Temple Bar is nice and intimate, you have to go downstairs underneath the street. I think it used to be a public toilets though? Or an underground shelter or something.

yeah but this guy is posting on a dubstep forum mate, something tells me a stinky underground, indie rock fuelled, filled with morrissey wannabe 1000 foreign beers on the menu bar is perhaps not what he's looking for...

actually...

nah just try the northern quarter mate, Common is quite nice, Trof is alrite, Odd and Odder (on oxford rd.) is the same.... they're all arty farty n 'quite nice' in the northern quarter

Josh brookes on princess st. is actually alrite aswell now its been redone

duno bout fallowfield/withington/rusholme though, i rarely go out there

apparently theres a place called Redrum or Redroom in fallowfield which has live jazz/music on fridays and isn't full of stnuc

the Gallery?

the bar that used to be upstairs in Sunshine Studio's used to be exactly the 'arty, quiet, cool vegan hangout' but i dont even know if thats there anymore

manchester is a bit pricey in general mate, not a lot of places you'll see a pint under £3, specially if you wana avoid student/commercial bars

when they have club nights at josh brooks they normally do tuborgs for £1.50 i think

if you wana venture out fo the city centre, Chorlton has a few 'the Nook' is quite good, place that was called 'Abode' but is now 'The Gallery' is alrite as well, both regularly have dj's on (my sis plays at the nook last sunday of every month) try round there aswell, hop on an 85/6 from city centre

If you're going to venture from the city centre I can recommend many places. Especially Chorlton.
