Burn Studios and Resident Advisor present:
The Burn Studios Plastikman remix competiton

We're super excited to announce that the next Burn Studios remix competition, in association with Resident Advisor will be for Richie Hawtin's track 'Ask Yourself' under the Plastikman moniker, taken from 2003's full-length, Closer.

The competition is now open and closes on December 31 2010. You can find all the relevant information, terms and conditions and details about everything – including the 18 stems for your use – on our official website.

The overall winner will take home over €2,500 worth of audio equipment from AVID and a SoundCloud Pro+ account worth €250 – as well as having their track released digitally on the Plastikman Arkives retrospective box set – whilst five runners-up, hand picked by Richie Himself, will take home an M-Audio Torq MixLab DJ kit, an AVID Recording Studio package and a SoundCloud Lite account.

What are you waiting for then? Get to work!

Richie Hawtin a.k.a. Plastikman has been a legend in Detroit / minimal techno, since the early 90's.

(your not you're, ahem hem)

I did this interview: http://www.theartsdesk.com/index.php?op ... &Itemid=80

I'm not totally sure Hawtin quite gets dubstep...
I mean, I think that if you go back 10 or 15 years, some of the most interesting techno music was made out of the whole drum'n'bass scene, which itself in a sense became the dubstep scene. So what I like about dubstep is that it's techno, it's futuristic and they have a great sense of time and space in their music – it reminds me that it's very closely connected to those original Detroit records, especially Derrick's stuff.
...but as far as he's concerned the whole world is techno, so that's his prerogative I guess.
