Ive always been into Dub music and love the soundsytem culture in dub too, and thought the other day whilst listening to a mala set at work that itd be cool if DMZ built/ had built for them a soundsystem, itd be the first in dubstep (as far as i know) and built and eq'd purposely for the sound. What do people think?

not too sure if im aware of any custom built system that tours in the same way that dillinjas & lemon d's valve system did. any one know if the valve is still alive? would love to see some weighty dubstep dj's rinse it, but havent really seen it advertised recently..

we have our own soundsystem in buffalo for one.... it is for dnb too but.... yea i mean, lots of people around the globe have invested tons in custom soundystems and spent ages workin on em.
i guarantee there are more big names with their own rig.
(excision and downlink plus antiserum are bringing a huge pkay rig on tour right now! not homemade but, worldclass for sure. going to be the most interesting part of that gig)

we dont really have any proper dubstep producers in the city..
i mean, its nothing special, only the subs are homemade, but we do bring extra sound to our nights.

DMZ chose to use the Dirt Sound System (local boys done good!) for the soundclash last year, so Mala and Coki obviously approve of the sound they are bringing! From day dot, the Dirt System has always sounded superb!
Now they have Psycho subs...

I've always thought Valve was over-rated...
Just sayin'...

'Physical' is the perfect word to describe Valve. Wouldn't surprise me if Mala set up a soundsystem to be honest, if only for DMZ nights and clashes.

Yeah, I heard Mala, Loefah, Coki, Pinch, Peverelist, Doc Scott and Breakage play on the system since they brought in the psycho subs. It's fucking insane how much weight is behind it.
Mungos HiFi system is near enough tailor made for dubstep too. Heard Mala play on it a couple of years ago and it's still one of the finest systems I've heard.
Don't The Bug and Africa HiTech have their own systems too?

na fair play mate- seen it 3 times, 1 time really wasnt up to the other two. You can have the kit but if you dont have the right soundmen on the night/ got a shit venue its not gonna reach its potential. Also they dont take the whole thing to most the places they go, usually the venue cant house it all. Be interesting to hear it again though now i have refined my listening a bit tho.
From what I have seen in video's/ interviews n that, Mala reminds me of dillinja a bit what with their meticulousness over sound quality and bass fidelity. If anyone in dubstep was gonna set one up, you would probably want it to be Mala...but these things cost a dick load of money and I imagine it would have to get used a decent amount for it to be ommercially viable - Mala seems to be a quality over quantity man and I cant really see him touring in the same way that dill/ lemon d did with the valve

I take back what I said about Mala setting up a system to a degree after reading some of the responses. That the DMZ crew 'endorse' soundsystems is beneficial for both parties, DJs get the quality sound they want, soundsystems can maintain an income and gain reputation themselves. Win-win.
