I have only recently started using redux, and had no idea how great it could sound. the trouble is that im stumped for uses other than chiptune. can anybody suggest some ways that i could use it more effectively?

use it in subtle ways. the key to creating a unique sound is combining many different techniques in a versatile way. the best way to do this in ableton is to start creating custom effect racks. here's an easy one to try: throw an autofilter and a redux on a channel. highlight both of the plugins, right click, and select "group." they should now be grouped together in an effect rack. set the filter to a HP filter. map the freq of the filter to macro 1. now, set the redux to "soft" mode. map the downsampling to macro 1 as well. on the left side, you will see a menu to adjust the range for each parameter, here you should fiddle around and see what you like. to explore this concept more, throw on another effect after this (maybe a reverb or delay) and map it to macro 1 as well. i have tons of custom effect racks that i use subtle in passing to keep things from becoming timbrely stagnant.

Redux is quite a usefull tool, but I only really use it for it's bitcrusher.
It's all about discovering, do what you want and make your own song mate!

Soundcloud

and i didn't use it at all subtle....
i turned up 'downsample' from 1-200 in 1 bar i think....

Redux is an awesome little tool. Oddly it sucks if your trying to make 'yoiyoi' datsik sounds but for roughing up high frequency melodic samples like bells etc it's brilliant.

you can make some crunchy glitch drums with it.

I use a little sprinkle of redux on hats to make them fizzle. (Sorry if I'm being too technical)
