2011 starts in fine style for Hyperdub with singles from two new signings. First up is Morgan Zarate's Hookid EP on January 24th featuring the tracks Hookid, Buy Bye and SP.

Morgan Zarate used to be of the influential group Spacek and is best known for pushing r&b and hip hop into new spaces, taking influences from the US and UK and creating raw, emotional and psychedelic beats. Hookid is the first EP from his forthcoming solo album, which is also slated for a 2011 release on Hyperdub.

Then it's Funkystepz with Fuller / Hurricane Riddim. Funkystepz are a collective of house producers from north London, with a show on Rinse FM and a string of underground hits under their belts this will be out mid February.

The first album of the year comes from label boss Kode9 alongside The Spaceape. Their long awaited second album is called Black Sun and will arrive in April, prepare for something very different from their last album and everything else around.

Confirmed live events include 2011 Hyperdub taking over the Berghain club in Berlin in partnership with Club Transmediale on February 4th. Kode9 and the Spaceape, King Midas Sound and Darkstar will be playing live while Ikonika, Cooly G, DVA, Terror Danjah and Kode9 will be DJing.

Darkstar also start their first UK tour in February:

* 10: Belfast Auntie Annies Porter House
* 11: The Workman's Club, Dublin, Ireland
* 12: The Pavilion, Cork, Ireland
* 17: Met Bar, Chester
* 18: Nation Of Shopkeepers, Leeds
* 23: Hoxton Bar & Grill, London
* 24: Cardiff Arts Institute, Cardiff
* 25: Start the Bus, Bristol
* 26: Coalition, Brighton

Man speaks truth.

If I had a guess as to what Kode might be up to... we're going to get at least one more Burial DJ set (and if we're damned lucky, an ACTUAL Burial release as opposed to some other producer dickriding him.) and a couple of other DJ sets... The Kode album, some KMS Remix stuff... And I think another Ikonika EP was lined up. Other than that, it seems like it'd be quiet... Has Kode openly embraced Juke or anything in interviews? He obviously enjoys Funky, but aside from playing "Footcrab"...
