I've got Dual Thrashers, Perky and Glitch Girl, all superb bits of distortion plugs.
But no Nuclear

So vsts... I've been using some fx on low end hardware units, and they are quite destructive of sound, just absolutely blurring, duplicating in time transients, smearing all kinds of stuff, and just doing a bunch of stuff, that I really like.

All the vst's that I've bought are really "clean oriented" even the dirty vst's are more geared towards mojo rather than... I don't know... the exact term. They're not very creative. I don't know, they're not dirty enough, not transformative enough.
So looking for suggestions on vst's that can do a good bit to really reshape sounds in new and interesting ways. Looking well beyond reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, flanger, compression fx. Really like fx that can be applied to like 1/3 or 1/2 of the mix'ed elements to shape/smear them all together.
I have reaktor, but have only marginally explored the sound generation side of things, never the fx side. If you can recommend any fx ensembles that would be awesome too.
Oh yeah, happy new yearz.

Have tried. Really like the sequencer, though I think it could be better, but I do like it, but I feel the sound shaping tools in there are weak ass.
Not to be a negative nelly.
But you're getting my drift: PROFOUND SOUND ALTERATION.

				Anything by Jack Dark;
GlitchGirl
DualThrashers
Perky
All of those will completely FUBAR whatever sound you put through them.

checkout guitar rig of NI. Like the name says it's aimed at guitar players, but what you get is a wide range of effects ranging from standart eq,delay etc to crazy distortion, pitch shifting, filtering, ringmod, graindelay etc stuff. There are internal stepsequencers, envelopes, lfos to modulate all the parameters, which makes it kind of a modular fx unit. The karmafx modularsynth can be used as an fx-unit und offers also a lot of effect units and also freely routable modulation sources, which will make a simple delay unit a glitchy soundmangler.

Which version of guitar rig are you referring to? Have 3, but don't even have it turned on. Just did when you posted this, and wtf, I've never really gotten deep with it. But I think I'm going to have to spend some more time in there. Very real world sort of way of doing things, kind of what I like about reason. Yes. This is what I'm talking about.
Gonna demo that karma synth...

Ohmicide is GOD of vst distortion.
But not necessarily talking about distortion here.

What your talking about has not really been done in software imo. Most VA synths/fx try to recreate the more sort after gear i.e. moog. I think the only way you can get this sound is with your hardware. Like when I run stuff to tape, it does all this nasty shit, but I really like it. I have got no way near with software, even with the better tape simulators.
If your talking about guitar pedels, guitar rig does a great job, but their is nothing on the real trash side of things in their. Reaktor is great for real strange messed up effects, but I have yet to hear anything super trashy, but their is some great wacky shit that I think you would love (check my track last nights music is todays noise on soundcloud 90% of the sounds are reaktor, and 100% of the effects are from reaktor, if you get bored skip to the end where it gets very trashy)

Have a go with the demo of Traktor's 12 - it's a powered-by-GR pack. Might be along the lines of what you're looking for. They're quite good for mangling but also very playable and performable. Still pretty clean though.
Maybe DestroyFX? Free as well. Haven't tried them myself though.

So you're looking for a distortion unit - that isn't necessarily a distortion unit - that distorts things without actually distorting them?
Waveshapping?
