Tape crew

Considering putting out a series of tapes as the first release under the Delay label, and I wondering if anybody has any advice as far as a cheap way to get the music on tape and what sort of tapes sound the best.
If the tapes go well, I'll probably make moves towards releasing the tape material on wax. If anybody's got any (constructive) advice, I'd love to hear it.

Do it on Vhs, or Beatmax.

Remember minidisks? They were shit.

Tapes are way too modern. If you want that authentic crackle and warmth, you need to go old school. Real oldschool. Piano rolls or gtfo.

Bs. My next release is currently being transposed into Gregorian choral music, you can only hear it at a Sunday mass.

Nice idea. Maybe a bit too 'out there' these days to actually realistically bother doing it, I know I wouldn't bother.

As for knowledge about tapes? I don't know, I only ever buy old punk tapes and they sound like shit anyways! :D:

haven't Doldrums been releasing cassette mixes?? sure Kassem Mosse did one...

either way seems like a 'cool' thing to do, but a stand in the face of the mp3/digital takeover of music which seems ultimately pointless when you're only gona end up releasing the same shit on digi/vinyl at some point??

i duno, cool idea though, what do you mean 'cheap way of getting material on tape' anyway?? tape is EASY. buy a good quality second hand tape deck and link your shit to it and hit record, thats the beauty of tapes. get someone to do artwork for you and you're away. but you need good quality tapes and a good quality tape deck

That's what I was looking for.
Right now I'm just putting stuff to tape with a walkman, and that sounds like absolute shit.

my dads got knowledge of this kinda shit, i'll ask him when i see him tomorrow or sumat, he's bought himself a real good one from way back, got it on ebay for about £30-40 so if you got the stones to invest in it you can get something real nice i reckon. i'll ask and get back to you anyway.
