Working on just drums for a long time...

It's what I've been doing for about 6 months. I'm into the whole found sound / weird percussion thing championed by Burial, Mount Kimbie, Eskmo et al. which is mad intense. But then I still want my tunes to have dancefloor intensity...not just be an experimental mess that is inaccessible at first listen.
What do you guys think? What is your angle on drums, specifically the sound design element? And is anyone else in the same boat, just trying to improve their drum sounds?

Youve been working on the same drum loop for six months? :L
Just kidding, yeah nah Rusko said if your drums sound good enough to listen to over and over then your already halfway there In one of the production masterclasses. Plus its the whole groove to your track at the end of the day

Yeah man, I have been working flat out on a kick and snare for about a week now, I have only been producing for about 6 months, So still learning lots everyday. I am just working on getting the fattest and punchiest snare and kick I can, it does get tiresome sometimes, I have made some good progress tonight though, so hopefully they will be sounding exactly how I want in a few days.
Don't worry about spending time on drums they are a very important part of EDM. But they go a miss all the time, especially with alot of dubstep tunes cause all some producers care about is making the filthiest/heaviest wobble they can and their drums sound terrible cause they think that just concentrating on making the dirtiest wobbles will get everyone loving their stuff. Bad drums bring down a tracks potential by miles. Drums create the groove on the Dance floor, not the 'yoi yoi yoi'
