Webster Hall-- The oldest club in town was revamped. It all starts as soon as one treks down 11th Street, heading toward the main doors, where you'll see the deep stairwell-to-nowhere is now an entry point, dressed with a nifty neon sign directing you to "The Studio-- an intimate area designed to hold about 300 while bands and DJs play a buffer of alt rock/ electronic that does justice to the modern sound of New York rock. The Marlin Room is still only a few steps away, and here you find even more updated fun like new furniture and a new bar that has shifted toward the rear. Where once turntablists were forced to spin from that tiny raised space in the wall, now those who man the Mac are set up near the doorway that accesses the main entrance. Head up the stairs (with the stairwell now encompassed by plasma screens featuring cool deco-visions) and pass through the still-undefined lounge/ bar area to the Grand Ballroom that still looks...familiar. However, the back-wall DJ booth has also been ripped out as the selector now permanently holds fort on the large stage, with that gigantic movie/TV screen still in place. Finally, the upstairs balcony still offers all the trappings of a VIP area, sweeping view, a separate room, but the story will remain the same, as this upper deck will remain mostly open to all, with little velvet-rope pretension.

Warning to anyone using the inlist: I signed up on inlist for a show a few months ago, arrived at 10:30 (inlist says free till 12), then stood in line for an hour before finding out that inlist actually means $5 off the regular price (=$25 ticket) instead of free entry.

Kaine, you're a real hack, making bullshit claims online with absolutely nothing to back it up.

My friends and I got collectively screwed out of 80 bucks because your shitty promotion site and claim for free admission didn't mean shit to anyone at webster hall.

Also the promoter line was just as long as the regular admissions.

Inlist needs to answer for this... and I hope the topic doesn't get lost because the event is over.
I will remind everyone about this for the next BFM party at Webster promoted on DSF

===================================

Kaine-
I understand your frustration- but as a long time promoter and in the club scene.... You should know that its not the promoters discretion as to who comes in, who pays and who doesn't.

On fridays-
The doorman has the right to deny anyone they want.... Inlist or not. Inlist does not chose who comes in and who doesn't.

Kaine- you have lists everywhere. You're a respectable promoter. You should be well aware of things that can happen at a door. We've all been in this business long enough to know that door ppl and clubs have the right to be selective.

Best,
Webster Hall Management

I'm sure everyone understands the whole door policy thing...
And a guest list is not guarantee you get in. After all, I could be best friends with a promoter or dj
and not get in because I look like a slob or I'm too drunk, or whatever.

But usually when someone posts something about a guest list on a forum like this its because
they want people to come that have a real interest in what is going on at that event.
This forum is about dubstep. You are advertising your guest list to dubstep heads. Not just
random people who want to go to Webster Hall. You know that the dubstep scene has never really been
about exclusivity or fashion. It's working class people's music. People who just want to go out and dance and really love the music.
So getting on a guestlist for a dubstep party that was advertised to a dubstep community at a big club that has such a door policy
should imply that the door policy would be relaxed a bit... under normal conditions. Guest list implies preference.

I'd rather go just knowing that I'll have to pay at the door. Otherwise it seems like there's really no point.

Kaine, you have a business to run and I respect that. I understand that this is more about Webster Hall's
policy. They really have no clue what made the dubstep scene what it is and they don't care. But If the true fans keep getting
rejected like this in favor of people just going with a trend... this party will not last long. BFM will probably find
out eventually. Maybe they don't care. When attendance starts dropping because the trendies move on to the next big thing in dance music
Webster Hall will also move on to the next big thing.

WTF are you talking about?

1) Inlist has nothing to do with BFM, Webster Hall work with numerous promotion lists that has nothing to do with us. We run the main room with GBH and we collectively promote the $1 daze deal in conjunction with going.com. If people to choose to use another list or another way of getting in for a reduced price then that's on them, all we can do is give you the information we can't and won't force you to use it.

2) Webster Hall are a club venue, they work with various event promoters (not to be confused with club promoters) to bring in events across many genres. We as BFM work with them in conjunction with GBH and have brought you some seriously insane dubstep lineup's over the last 6 months. Webster Hall enable this to happen so don't start with the 'they dont know what makes dubstep' crap because it means nothing in this situation. They don't need to know the ins and outs of the genre that's why they work with event promotors that do.

3) How can u even insinuate that we wouldn't care about a situation?

4) For every Webster event we do there is a facebook invite started by the BFM page, all pertinent info for admission is always on there, use it and you won't be disapointed.

O.K. guys. I guess I have to answer for sounding like a douche. But I hope you would agree that something is not right about this issue. And now I know It's not your fault, nor does it have anything to do with the event promoters or the "dubstep scene". So I'm sorry for insinuating that you don't care. Obviously you do for taking the time to respond.

Webster Hall reserving the right deny admission without reason is posted on their website. But it says nothing about changing admission price whenever they feel like it. So at this point shouldn't Inlist stop claiming that admission is free on their guest list if the club won't necessarily honor it, even if you got to the door on time? Or at last say that admission price is at the discretion of the doorman as a part of the door policy...
It all just seems shady. Would this go for all guest lists? Even the Dollar Daze promo? And wait, what about advanced tickets? They are available on Webster Hall's Website. So paying for a ticket in advance doesn't guarantee admission?

I just hate having to deal with this kind of shit. I just want to hear dope music and dance. You guys throw a great party and bring top notch talent. It sucks that it has to be at a place that has this kind of policy. I'm just a regular guy. I don't dress like a slob but I hate dressing up or trying to be trendy. And I'm sure I'm not the only person who would rather save a few bucks on admission. Does that make me lame and not worthy of getting into your party? I just don't see how this dress code/door policy thing has anything to do with the usual demographic at dubstep parties. So why couldn't they just relax these policies a bit based on that? This is not a new concept. I've been to plenty of parties in other EDM scenes that were in big multi-room clubs that had such door policies but they would have separate lines and separate policies depending on which party you showed up for.

Webster Halls rights to admission policy is no different than any other venue in the city really. The only complaints I have heard about are on this thread with Inlist. As far as the other methods of entry are concerned there are no complaints I am aware of so in fact you really should be taking this up with Inlist. You have been promised things by them that they have no way of delivering.
