tbf, having used both, albeit 1000's more, i prefer the 400's, they look better, and are a bit simpler and ofc cheaper

I'd say it depends on how you wish to play your music. With the 400's you get the bonus of being able to use a USB stick and it will read mp3's on a data CD. The 1000 mk2's will only play audio CD's.

quite a bad read speed for the usb on the 400s when you spin the platter sometimes it stops to read the data

id go for the 1000s all day the build quality of them feels better

400s have midi capability which is awesome for traktor and serato BUT they're a bit like a toy. the 1000s are good

400s are more suitable for the home I think due to size etc. Not exactly sure how the spec for the mk2s compares but I reckon the 400s do more aswell. I'm actually selling a pair on ebay *self promotion*

I'd say go with the 1000s just because you are getting such a great deal on them, but honestly you can learn 400s and then play at clubs / events on the 1000s. I have my own 800s that I use, but I've spun on the 1000s and I was lucky enough to do a set on some 2000s, and I can safely tell you that the skills from any of them cross over. One of the best DJs I know has a pair of 200s at home and rips it up on the 1000s at clubs. As long as your getting pioneers they're bound to be good.
