LOGIC HELP!

easy,

Im pretty new to logic 9 and somewhat still trying to get to grips, i've used cubase 5 before somewhat extensively yet Logic has got me scratching my head at the moment.

Trouble is im on like my third project and trying a remix, i started the project from scratch using wav's initially and I now want to insert a new instrument channel, which is fine.

I create a new instrument channel and I get a feed with sound from my USB keyboard to the stereo out, however when I record and want to play back I get nothing. The piano roll buttons dont work either.

I have had previous projects whereby both have worked fine, its got me well and truly stumped. I would have initially thought it was because the instrument channel is not wired to stereo out but it is.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

ta.

Make sure the instrument is set to "record". It's a little R on the instrument's lane. You won't get anything otherwise :) It's done like this so that you don't accidentally overwrite midi for another track while working on something else.

Yeah it is, sequencer notes are recording fine and when I play them direct from keyboard it comes through the channel, however on playback its not.

Messing with my mind!

Oh it's recording but not playing back? Sorry, didn't realize. Odd. The section of midi isn't muted is it? It'll have like a thick border, and have a kind of gray overlay over the top.

Nah man, its seriously west. Think I may have worked a way around it though, just copied all my stuff over to a new project and it seems to be working fine now.

how odd.

Thanks for the help though!

Yeah although I love logic... used it since version 6, Its notorious for little bugs like this. Its mostly stable these days (from ver 8+) but yeah you still can run into ooooooood problems like this. Dont let it put you off though.

I had an issue last night where I was trying to send a channel's output to bus 3 (new channel), but it kept creating a new aux channel for my battery 3 instance. I couldn't stop it from doing that, had to quit logic and start it back up and that worked, but never had that issue before.
