I wouldn't say "loads of sweet apps". More like "a handful of decent apps, a bigger handful of less decent apps, and the awesome ones are still on macupdate". It's just launched though, so we'll see how it goes.

iphones are a piece of piss to hack so I would imagine the rest of their software is as easily hacked.

Bullshit, no it's not. Sure, the front end to the application that hacks it for you is easy to use, but actually exploiting the bootloader and writing the code that hacks the device when you click the button on the GUI takes a lot of skill in a lot of different disciplines.
