Im not far off being able to buy a new DAW and im sick to death of abletons shit. it annoys me, and it feels like its lacking in something. i've been looking at reason and record for a long time now, and i was wondering if its worth buying? what are the pro and cons of it? what are peoples experiances with it. is record worth it?

i loved reason never tried record never saw purpose for it unless your into like guitars and live recordings and such but reason is awesome but its definitely way better required but the only cons i see is the mixer has no mids for eq so you have to do some fiddling to make that work and no vst support but thor is like reason massive so no worries i think its worth it but i dont know about record thats personal perf.

I was in Records closed and open betas and i will say, if I wasn't so used to Logic and plugins (and therefore would gain nothing from getting Record) I would have bought it.

The mixer is genuinely a game-changer, the quality is easily up there with protools, but it is a majorly different from Reason 4 (the last reason I ever used) I think R5 basically took most of its tricks from Record from what I've seen. Go for it, I would!

Record serves many a purpose for the bedroom producer mate trust me. It is kinda aimed at the live musician, but that aint all its for at all.

Im doing some saving so i can purchase it, cant wait to get my hands on it to tell you the truth.

Don't see why you would go from Ableton to Reason 0.o I went the other way...

Regardless of what anyone says it *is* fucking hard to get a decent mix out of Reason. My first tune out of Ableton when I didn't know where anything was or how to work the program was a million times clearer than anything I ever made in Reason/Record. Loads of people seem to say it was the old mixer and all this bollocks but at the end of the day it's because the mclass EQ is cack. Reason is a good program but I would never recommend it to be used without rewire unless you were a beginner.

Basically I think if you move to Reason from Ableton it will feel like a massive step backwards and it will be a *long* time before your mixes sound any good.

i love using reason, partly because im so dialled in to the workflow of it now. I find it very easy to get very creative with routing stuff though, audio and cv. The Mclass EQ isnt great but the reverb and distortion units are really good. Id jusy dl the demo and see how you find the workflow. Never really used record but id reccomend just doing the same thing.
