I wanted to get myself a CDJ at some point this year, to add a bit of variety to my mixes and start dropping local dubs a bit more, but i dont happen to have a spare grand lying about for a pioneer -w- , as much as id like one, everyone is saying better off to save your money and get a pioneer, but ive seen some resonably priced KAM and Numark ones, just wondering what peoples views are on different makes of CDJ's, is it worth getting a cheaper one??

Pair of Pioneer CDJ800'S will set you back for about £1,300 for a pair rather than just buying one CDJ1000..

I wouldn't recommend those unless you're DJing at a wedding.

I just splashed out on a pair of CDJ350's and a DJM350, came to £1375 alltogether including a flight case and HDJ500 headphones. Pretty fucking spot on for that price, even though i shouldn't be spending anywhere near that as i'm a student.

Id go for something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/cdj-400-/32064066 ... 4aa7ac42d4.

Pioneers are what you will find in the clubs etc so i'd always say to buy Pioneer.

*i am not being paid for this opinion*

Yeah, quite good for the price, but not good for what you'll want them for.

Im just after a basic cdj, to record sets with at home etc, i get enough practise on pioneers when i play out, so i dont neccessarily have to have a pioneer at home, saying that, it does seem the best option, im just so crap at saving monies!!

As long as I can cue from the start of a track and beatmatch using the pitch control, what else more do I need? I'm not intending to do any scratching. Won't I be able to mix the same way I would with a turntable then ? ... :(

I would certainly say that Pioneers are the brand to buy
You will find them in most clubs/pubs etc. They are pretty much the industry standard as Technics are the choice for turntables

I did have some Denon CDJ's but changed to Pioneer and never looked back

The 800's have pretty much the same feel as the more expensive 900/1000's but without some effects and the waveform display
So for a few hundred quid less, you can have some CDJ's that are good enough for proffesional use and should last you many years

Sorry OP, I'm not trying to hijack your thread but I have to mention that I only have one CDJ and I was planning to mix one side using my Stanton turntable for vinyl and the Pioneer on the other for all the tunes I rip of off teh internets
:D
Is this gonna' work?

My Advice would be to get yourself a Pioneer CDJ 200
It'll cost you somewhere between £150 (second hand) and £350 (new) and will do EVERYTHING you need it to do, whilst still being sturdy as hell, and reliable. They've also got a the benifit of being a smaller size than the 800/1000 type so won't take up as much space. If you don't wanna shell out loads but still want a pioneer CDJ then it's the best option.
(worth paying the extra for a 200 over a 100 cause of the better jog wheel, it's not as good as the 800 etc. jog wheel but is definatly good enough!)

Pioneer CDJ 200 for 150???? Where is this place? I'd even shell out 350 for a brand new pair!

Where are these places of such bargains? (clearly dont exist, haha)

Ebay - Pioneer CDJ 800 for about £350. There was another thread with the same kinda questions. And imo if you wanna be used to what ya playinng in a club 800's and upwards are the only way to go.

Is the audio output on a CDJ100s seriously that awful? Seen them in lots of clubs in Finland?

Ive not used cdjs much myself. Used alot of pioneer 1000's and the like in clubs, and yeah theyre awesome...but obviously cost a bomb
Myself, ive got a real cheap kam cdj. Just bought it for playing the odd tune on my radio show (only 128kbps) but to be honest its clearly not very good. Pitch controls and jog wheel do the job, but the sound quality is really naff (sub bass always seems to have this kind of 'buffeting' sound, seems to add a bit of a wobble to it and definitely doesnt have a good frequency response low down). I dunno really, ive only ever owned this cdj so just thought id let you know! Its a KCDJ200FX
