Wow... I'm somewhat new to the forum, but I can already tell there is a lot of tension regarding preferences within the continuum that is the dubstep genre. I'm not going to get into it because it's everywhere, and I would merely be repeating what has already been said by so many.
Instead, let's talk about what is good about the other side of things. This is my first thread, and I'd like to try to alleviate some tension.
Let's expose guilty pleasure and not be so serious about it!
If you prefer the minimal "meditate on bass weight" side of things, I'd like you to list a "tear out" tune that you enjoy and may even want to hear more of.
For those enjoying the "tear out" stuff, let's hear a tune that you enjoy from the minimal side of things.
Everyone will have different ideas of what constitutes what on the continuum, and that is part of the fun.
I'll use myself as an example:
I prefer deep minimal dubstep personally, and I usually dismiss a lot of aggy stuff.
However, I enjoy a lot of stuff that Sukh Knight puts out. I consider a lot of his stuff real aggressive but I definitely enjoy it....
Guiltier pleasure, you ask.... I really do love Cookie Monsta I can't help it! Some unreleased songs in his Take Flight Mix are so good (Fixed Penalty! I Was Like RAH!).
It just feels right.

N-Type used to play this Doctor P tune (not Sweet Shop) about 6 months back, I've no idea what it was called and to be honest I can't be bothered finding out but I did like it.
edit: Wasn't too hard to find in the end ha ha.

All right, I think most people will know my preference of music (if not : http://submeditation.wordpress.com/2011 ... st-tracks/ ). I'm not going to post Youtube links eather because that sucks and slows down every topic.
Anyway, people think I don't like tear-out (and most of it I don't probably) but there are always exceptions.
16bit - Can You Show Me what Head is, for example is great. And let's face it, some of Coki's work has been very aggy (but doesn't pay for it in sub). I very much enjoy Broken Note. Reso is pretty tear-out, and he's got some good stuff. I enjoyed Bar 9 when I saw them a couple of times. Matt-U & Riskotheque do some ok stuff too. I still like Emalkay, despite of "When I Look at You" as the most overplayed tune in history. Sukh Knight is a given. It's a bit like Skream or N-Type : they play some aggy stuff but still have the old school vibe in a fair part of their tunes.
There, I said it.

And you should be!
I was a little reluctant to share my love of Cookie Monsta, but I suppose I should embrace it.

Well Emalkay (Power Tool / When I Look At You), Coki, Goth Trad, Kromestar, Headhunter, Benny Page, Lost... all stray into jump up area but I enjoy them!

Man I heard one Cookie Monsta tune and it was straight darkness.. Proper dark though not cheesy dark. It wasn't that greatly produced but it was sick.. for the life of me though can't remember what it was called.

Okido I'll put myself in the deeper section then hrm
I just loooooooooooooove cookie, I'm proud of it! And I'm probably one of the first big fans ^_^ love most of his work he started pushing a new sound (thats my opinion) and differentiates more then enough so it doesn't bore me (which is different then other circus signed ppl who I liked at the beginning as well but now find utterly boring)
Like some of 16bit as well, bar9 , reso, bassnectar, Caspa, C&S, etc... Basically the good tunes ^_^

AHA no shame! Good music is in the ear of the be..hearer.
I'm still waiting for someone that listens to mostly jump-up to share their deeper side though.
For those who consider themselves in the middle... Pick a side, or show us a tune that we shouldn't enjoy... but we will anyway.

I swing both ways if you know what I mean
UltraBlack - Bear Trap (Excision remix) is kind of on the fence so I think that's gonna be my pick.

I'm gonna do it!
....I sorta, kinda, enjoy... Chainsaw Calligraphy by 16bit. It's definitely not their best but...
It's really for the novelty factor to be honest, and it gives me a good laugh. I wish I could ask 16bit to make sure, but I like to think that they made this track just to say "oh yeah, you're track sounds like chainsaws and filth... Well, uh, we have song that is chainsaws and filth."
