8 gb of ram is a lil overkill, but other than that looks like a solid build, i'd just have a dedicated raid card in there and have built into a rackmount case

I have 8GB of RAM in my MacBook Pro....I don't think its overkill. I think its bad ass.

yea bad ass that unless you're doing heavy video editing odds are you're not coming close to using it all

That's just about what I want to have sometime this year once I've saved up the pennies. Think I'm gonna go for an AMD processor though, cos intel is baaaaare expensive.

Yeah 4 gigs is still enough for daws imo (6 if you're running triple channel).
Maybe 64 bit you would break 4 tho
