hello!

say i wanted to autotune for example a short speech sample, what should i do? are there any free vstis that could do the trick? i work on reaper so there's this vocoder on it already but it doesn't quite do the trick. help me out!

Typically you would use Autotune. Not sure if there's a free alternative.

the melodyne vst can be used like an auto-tune, it's not free though.

what software you using? logics pitch correction plug-in is like an auto-tune, and if you want the typical t-pain auto tune, just put the response time up real quick!

theres an autotune plug included in logic though, not sure about other daws

GVST has a free pitch-correction plug. Havent used it, but I use a lot of his other stuff in my tunes.

just out of curiousity, is there a big difference between the quality of pitch correction in Ableton Live's Complex Pro and Autotune or Melodyne?

There must be a free alternative actually, thinking about it - but I haven't used anything like this in years so I wouldn't know. I'm guessing the free ones would be more glitchy and less pro-sounding, but for EDM production that's not necessarily a bad thing.

yes, melodyne makes it sound perfect, abletons is still allright, though programs like auto tune and melodyne are miles better.

correct. ableton live does NOT have pitch correction.
and for those of you who dont know, cubase's built in audio editor is without a doubt the most feature packed audio editor on earth, and it has midi-controllable, fully editable pitch of audio tracks. you can edit and fix the pitch of audio
as though it were midi notes.

And seriously guys: I use Live sometimes, and whenever I see "oh yes Live has [whatever youre talking about]"...in millions of more instances than not, Live DOESNOT have that. k? they sold shitloads of it, and even made a fkin SCHOOL in New York for a software that CLAIMS to be "the future" when they havent updated the thing in 7 years and has HALF the sht Cubase has. Cubase uses all those millions of dollars not on advertising, but on inventing the stuff which eventually finds itself into every other app. such as..VST, pitchcorrection, perNote controllers, instant rendering of midi to audio, etc...all Cubase first.
Sorry.lol. If it exists in a DAW, Cubase does have it, and they most-likely invented it.

Sorry for the snippy reply - but you kind of set yourself up for it. There are plenty of reasons to use any given DAW - I used Cubase for years, but find Live to be much more streamlined - plus I get the benefit of using the same program to compose as I do playing live as I do DJ'ing... so there is that benefit as well. As for Live not updating itself in the past 7 years, well that is just another of the many ways you made it clear you don't know what you are talking about.

Gvst makes a free alternative autotune plugin. GSnap, I believe.
