Since the fret_1 video seems to be doing quite well on YouTube as well as Vimeo, we decided to complete the cycle by unraveling a bit of the production magic in three in-depth fret tutorials. In this first tutorial, Durk shows how to create the heavy ripping bass-line modulations as the are applied in the second half of the video.
Also, Equiloud has made available 20 VJ clips available for free download in HD format, but first up.

I can make a tutorial about the the key tracking. I guess there's is some more to explain.
I might make a macro control and keytracking tut in the future tho.

That is a freakin' awesome video and answers some questions about how Skream - Rutten was written (as I LOVE the lfo automation in that), this sounds like it's how it was achieved.
Thank you
Gonna play with this a bit more now

Nice video! I enjoyed it. Could you explain what you were doing in the OSC tab, in the Oscillator Phases area I believe is what it says. Does moving those lines just set where each oscillator will restart when you hit another key? Or is it something else?
Thanks!

I'd really love to know how you boys made those phat bass stabs in the little music snippets between tuts. Fucking awesome stuff. Very triage-y, love those sounds!!!

It's a patch something like the one explained in the tut, resampled 2 or 3 times and with some extra layers. Resampling is pitching and camelphat>wow>vulcano or some GRM stuff reso i think, the brown one.
It's actually the only resampled bit of the song. The rest is all massive and FM8

Fine. I'm not a native English speaker and blissfully oblivious about whatever you are implying.

Yeah. I just LOVE those really deep, growling-style sounds. I'm working on trying to get them right myself

sorry, looked over your post there.
It controls the relative phase in Massive. normally the phase is continuous. This will restart with each incoming note depending on an X axis per the 3 OSC's and the modulation osc.
