Hi all,

I'm completely new to Dubstep, heard a little one night on Radio 1 and became completely hooked. Bought a couple of compilation albums, and have been listening to Benga and trying to find as much stuff as i can find. Was wondering if some of you kind people would point me in the direction of some good dubstep for a newbie, or at least to a site or forum/messageboard that can help me. I'm finding bits, but I'm lacking a general knowledge of what to look for and where to find it. I know it must be frustrating having noobs asking questions like this, but I would really appreciate a bit of guidance. Cheers guys!

Thanks guys, I'll check that lot out. I do eventually want to get deeper with it though, the commercial 'filth' probably wont cut it after a while!

i never know if anyone is being serious or taking the piss nowadays, i mean this dude might be being serious, but when i started listening to dubstep i wernt thinking like, 'well i wanna get into the deep stuff eventually, but not now! i love the filth, but i probably wont soon' i just loved the filth. but then i heard i wouldnt say the deeper stuff, i just heard shit different from filthy dubstep, mainly steppy stuff and then kinda moved away from it, but the filth is still alright i spose.

so why dont you just cut out all the shit, and go straight for the deep stuff now?

Just head straight to the Dubstep Allstars mix CDs and be done with it. Maybe get the latest one and work backwards.

Also, as Particle Jim said - listen to Dubstep Warz at least once (I bet it won't be just once though)!

For real, can't stress enough how important it was to the scene

Go by record label,I've found that to be the easiest way to get familiar with the genre and a great way to get to know the myriad of producers out there.
Everyone's got their particular taste but try giving Lodubs,Deep Medi Musik, Dub Police, Hench, Chestplate, a go.

Thanks to all of you, listening to Dubstep Warz now, and absolutely enthralled by it.

Skimpi, Sorry I appear to have confused you - I am being serious. Like I said I am new to dubstep and while I love it, I find it hard to distinguish between certain types, before yesterday I thought dubstep was just some kind of heavy reggae - how wrong was I??!!! I know my comments may seem like I'm having a laugh, but this is simply because I am so deluded. All I know is I know I love the dubstep scene I have heard so far, and I'm sure that feeling will grow! Sorry if my descriptions seem childish!

The rest of you - Thanks so much, I look forward to getting more involved in this forum in the future, I love music, I am so far loving dubstep, and I'm sure with your advice and help that will carry on.

Cheers guys,

Steve (Dublevvy86)

Dubstep Warz is a good starting point. Also highly recommend the label DEEP MEDi MUSIK and anything by Digital Mystikz (aka Mala & Coki) as they are the kingpins

I kind of thought the exact same thing at first ... -q- :t:

the reggae vibe is what drew me in, and i backtracked into a lot of other EDM after getting hip to some dubstep

I love the way how people think that theres different points of a Dubstep fan ... The opposite of a noob is a pro and theres no pro dubstep fans - just dubstep fans.

Dig into the history - find the iconic albums/cds - find what you like and enjoy yourself.

Its not a huge deal, its just music (good music) but still just music.
