hey guys ive had reaper on my windows xp laptop for about a year now but ive never really used it before any way the other day i finaly took the plunge and baught a coppie!!

i'm totily blind and i'm looking for some one to help me lurn and get started with reaper by talking over skype please would some one be up for doing this? i'm looking to make electronic music i'm running windows xp jaws for windows nvda raeaccsess and the latest verssion of reaper 3 if that helps any one. if you want my skype name just e-mail me.

your help with this request would be most welcom!!!

The website you linked us to looks buried in adverts. Where do you actually get the plug in from?

just wish i had a headset and skype so i could help him further or used the same progs as him
safe guy at a slight disadvantage when it comes to interfacing to do audio (and an advantage as he can't see spectrum analyzers and get caught up in all the visual metering)

I write a paper on web accessibility and the use of JAWS for a uni assignment. I have experience with JAWS and was able to work closely with a guy in Australia who was blind (who also had an interest in Cubase). Not sure how much help I could be, but feel free to message me. I've never used Reaper but do have a headset and Skype.

The dude I was writing the paper on was a blind web developer who was able to create attractive, pro level, web sites for some fortune 500 companies. Stick at it OP!

Yeah I would love to help out a bit, I am not familiar with reaper access but I am sure I could give it a whirl, I am pretty familiar with reaper.

huh well I dont look at an anazlyzer usually unless there is a severe problem

just saying if he was a local i'd love collabing with him
being lind def has it's advantages when it comes to audio

i'm local but i wouldn't have a clue how to use reaper, don't know anyone that uses it to be honest.

if you have a grasp of any DAW you should be able to help him out tremendously.


This post has had me thinking quite a bit on how frustrating it was to start working with DAWs, I couldn't imagine my frustration if I didn't have a monitor to see what I was doing.

IF you live near him, go help him get setup so he can start banging away. I am trying to get in contact with OP to help over skype but the initial setup would be so easily done by someone in person.

There are new dialogues to manage I/O which apply to tracks, sends,
recieves, and the master track.
We've implemented some cool new keystrokes related to selection of tracks
items and events. It's now possible to select noncontiguously on all
fronts, and our workflows during editing have significantly improved.
A ton of new features have been added to MIDIAccess which should make it
easier to search and navigate MIDI events.
New options have been added to ReaAccess configuration which enable more
actions to be spoken, and volume/pan slider values to be announced
properly throughout Reaper.

so you'll have to read the log thoroughly.

interesting, i'd be happy to help you out, but first i'd like to ask a few questions.
please don't take this as being rude, just curious how this works.
when you hover over a specific icon, does it say what each icon is?
my main questions revolves around how do you plan on working the software?
assuming it's not text to speech based would you simply use shortcuts and have specific auditory cues for each action respectively?
I assume that you can use text to speech for reading letters in text back to you, i.e this forum.
if this is the case, could you not apply the same to a text software, such as aim?

What kind of music are you making?

I have a serious suggestion that is fairly off track for what you are looking to do. But, have you thought of using a groove box type of hardware device for making music? With something like the Roland MC-909 many of the functions have tactile controls, you don't need to access menus (from what I've heard) that much. This particular device is a sampler, synth, sequencer, and has effects. From what I understand they are pretty powerful and not that expensive.

I believe once you learn the interface, and the few menus you might need to access, you could produce any type of music you so desired.

Left field suggestion, but perhaps worth a thought. I'm thinking of getting one, I like to make music with my eyes closed.
