(year and venue) did your taste change over time, where ya at now? last one short an sweet as poss please.. do you believe dubstep is heading in the right direction for you in your opinion in terms of the wider audience it now involves and how beats have developed and the Dj's at the top?

cheers

These answers are going to be calated at the in of feb as the same question i have posted on other forums, facebook twitter so on so forth. associates are researching for new bios, wiki page and generally seeing what everybody thinks! please dont bother resubmitting why you disagree with someone else as this is irrelevant! many thanks

Caspa - Rubba Chicken got me into dubstep if I remember correctly,! I loved the wobbly sound (and I still do).
I Listened to the hyped stuff for a while, but I really got sick of it.
Now i'm taking it back to the roots with dmz, kryptic, skream, loefah, youngsta, .. Can't get enough of it !
First show w/ Breakage, Mala, Youngsta, Kryptic Minds, N-type
I started listening somewhere mid 2009

Dubstep is getting even more interesting with the wider audience, more djs, more producers, there have been so many great releases this year..

for me i got into dubstep through my brother. i had been into experimental and down tempo type stuff for a while beforehand and it kind of just seemed natural. my brother was into drum and bass in a big way and i have never ever liked it, it's far too uptempo for my tastes. the first thing i can remember hearing was probably fabric live 37 (suprise!) and got into more and more artists since then, couldn't say a year really. at a guess i'd go for late 2009 maybe.

in terms or production, i was already well into producing music just had'nt really tried the dubstep genre as such. after a while of trying and experimenting with different things i had enough practise to try and step it up a bit. and that is where i am at today!

I cant remember when they started calling it Dubstep but I came form UKG side. Was always searching for the darker vides and from spending the whole day at Big Apple handing back crap UKG Hatcha used to reach under the desk and pull out the last 5 tunes of the shop and blam, you'd buy them all lol!

First bits that stuck out for me were the Big Apple releases, El-B, Zed B's etc. Again not sure on the date of these but its gotta be around 2003? Ugly, Pathways, Jungle Infiltrata etc

Did you make it to the launch party @ The End?! I walked in with my mate, Kode 9 on his own, whole club empty! Walked up, had a chat - he played a few tunes - was like being in his front room! lol That pack had some bangers in it tho!

Hi ! (first post for me...) I fell into dubstep between 2005 and 2006 to discover the album "Skream!" and his song "Rutten", there was also the set of "Plasticman" (one of the first time in France I think?)

Heard Emalkay's "Frequency" on a mix at my mate's house in 2006 but had no idea what dubstep was or anything. Was listening to a little bit of DnB back then, Roni Size, DJ Krust etc. A few mates of mine started getting into early 00's Hospital stuff as a lotta young people were then, and once when we were partying they told me about this music called dubstep. Listened to a few tunes off the first Burial album at theirs, Midnight Request Line and a few others. Wasn't particularly moved by it until late 2007 when I figured I liked some bits - used to rinse Babylon System's "Examination of Time". Liked Caspa and Rusko's stuff. There was a quality tune by Mac Koall I used to listen to a lot as well called "Unhappy Dance".

It was Revealomatic's mixes which introduced me to the chilled side of things, which was timely because I was getting really bored of the aggy stuff and had gone back to listening to rock, idm, and dub. The "Soft Core" mix showed me there was a lotta music I could still get excited about here.

Didn't appreciate the full sound until I heard it out though. Anything before that was just a passing interest.

Late 2008. Had unconsciously heard it out, thinking it was a mash up of bassline and drum and bass. How wrong was I!? Had my preferences in electronica though; artists like Aphex Twin, Daedelus, Chemical Brothers. Then a mate played me Cockney Thug [it must have been] which catalysed the obsession. It was Fabriclive 37, then the Allstars and finally started listening to Rinse end of 2009, which broadened my dubstep horizons unequivocally.

I spotted dubstep early last year and have been severely addicted to it ever since.
I think the first song I heard was Datsik-Southpaw and I remember thinking "Damn, That's the best D&B I've ever heard" and when I went to look it up I found more of the hypnotic wobs that I was looking for except it was called Dubstep of course.

Got into the pre-Planet Mu Vex'd singles, loved them, didn't pay too much attention to the rest of the scene for a while until I heard a Stella Session, from there I was hooked.
