this is exactly the thread i have been looking for! i've composed two tracks recently that i can't really decide on what genre they fit into, but experimental dubstep would be the one that i think would best fit them. the tracks are in my signature (excuse the redundancy in the text haha).

thank you! eden was one of the ones i made like a year ago! :)
yeh i think with music youve got to come out with something which people have never heard before, and come up with new compositions which make you wonna come back and listen to the song again and again!

@JOEYVERBEKE
the top tune in your sig is kind of the style i go for in the melody aspect of it
like the sounds are maybe a little too simple
but the overall melody and bass underneath goes rly well!
are you trying to make dub but with a cool melodic overlay on it???

yea i'm definitely still developing my sound synthesis techniques, because i have been producing for under a year now so i'm definitely still learning (isn't everyone though haha). and as for the style of music i am trying to make, i really don't have any set formulas when i begin a song, but they do usually end up being along the lines of dubstep sounding bass with syncopated rhythms and lots of melody on top. but i do change up the rhythms a lot, not sticking with the 2 step feel always so i never know how to classify the genre really you know? from listening to some of your songs i can tell you enjoy using a variety of sounds and melodies in your songs, i'm digging the vibes each song can produce

Want to keep this thread alive to hear more experimental dubstep tunes! I just finished a new one a few days ago that i'd love some feedback on. The closest genres I could assign to it would be Dubstep/Hardcore/Metal. Check it and let me know what you think!

your going for a more filthy feel to this track. i like but the wobbles are not filthy enough for it to work.

try bit crushing and other metallly type effects over it.
might help the dirtiness a litte bit!

this steers way off to the furthest fields of experimenting with dubstep, but heres a track i produced with a good friend of mine,
