New tune, possibly 'future garage', maybe tribal garage - if there is such a thing. Who knows.

Thanks for the feedback so far, it makes posting tracks on the forum worthwhile!

Cheers, a lot went into the percussion, glad its not gone unnoticed!

Thanks for your honesty; its not my 'thing' either really, just trying something a little different, seeing what the reaction is. Good to hear people distinguish between mixdown and track, and being able to appreciate the mix, even if they they don't feel the track. Nice one.

It most certainly does, IMO any feedback is good feedback be it positive or negative. Sometimes I want to encourage people to tell me that they thought my track was the worst thing they have ever heard as long as they tell me why. Seven views and one reply that says "bump" from yours truly is kind of disheartening. Anywho back to your track, I don't want to rant in/hijack your thread :D

Percussion was what kept my ears interested, really fills out the track and gives it that kind of tribal/world music vibe.

Could not agree more with the previous statements. I'll say it for the third time in this thread, its not my cup of tea, but the mix does sound really great. I really liked how the Saw lead sounding line(I think thats what it is, see my comment on soundcloud) faded in/out intermittently throughout the whole track. I feel like it could have been introduced a little earlier, but thats just me.

Great job man, keep up the good work.

I totally agree with this, we're (mostly) all grown ups who can take positive and negative feedback.
Noddism wrote:Seven views and one reply that says "bump" from yours truly is kind of disheartening.
My thoughts exactly. I remember the days of loads of feedback and comments, positive and negative - nowadays it seems you have to dangle the prospect of free20s in the thread title just to lure people in. Totally devalues music imo. Sometimes you do something different creatively, take a risk or whatever, and you find it hard to be objective about it. It's good to get people involved as sounding boards, and see what the general feeling is...

@Noddism:
In terms of the tune itself, its just something experimental I was fucking around with. I wanted to see if I could introduce more of an ethnic/percussive vibe to so called 'garage' or 2step - in hindsight, I don't think there's much of a cross-over appeal: never the twain and all that. I enjoyed the challenge of making the tune, but really, 2step and tribal aesthetics are poles apart, and it takes open minds to reconcile these two alien camps. Clearly not everyone's cup of tea.

In terms of synth placement etc, I wanted to keep that element low key, and only hint at it - I wanted it to only appear obviously on the break down, that way you have something to listen out for on subsequent listens. If you wanted more of it, that's fair play, but you can't please everyone all the time :) Its just something I wasn't aiming at, ie. I wanted to keep mids to a minimum to allow the percussion room to breathe. Most of the track is drums, which meant the mixdown was pretty demanding, but like I said, worthy of the challenge.

I'll be uploading some more bits soon, so hopefully there will be something there that people actually like, lol

Cheers for your comments :Q:

It actually made me laugh a little when I read that statement. Just because the first time I really noticed it was when I got the breakdown, and then I went back and listened to it again (at least 2 or 3 times) just to see if it appeared anywhere else. Just thought I would let you know that you accomplished 100% of what you were going for with that idea.
