Impulse (Ableton)

Only recently started using Impulse for my drums and noticed something a bit odd.
the kick i'm using suddenly jumps up about 5/6 dB (everything at 0dB) when i drop it into impulse where the audio itself sits at 0dB flat.

if there's a reason behind it i would like to know instead of just turning the kick down to have it sit at -9dB and forgetting about it.

Anyone have any insight into this?

Thats why I use Drum Racks for all my drums. I have a friend that works for Ableton, and he said that there is something that impulse does that processes audio differently than Simpler/Sampler. Not that its always a bad thing, but its not playing the waveform exactly the way you would normally hear it if you played it normally.

Is this for a midi clip or just when you're clicking the trigger in impulse. If you're hearing this when it's playing a midi clip it could be because the note velocity is full up to the top. Impulse loads samples with velocity settings enabled, unlike drum rack
