I've heard a lot about resampling basses and I'm just wondering what exactly this does for your bass and what the advantages of resampling are and what kind of sounds you get?

search button is in the top right

though imho resampling is overrated, unless you want your bassline to account for 90% of the interest in your song in which case its mandatory

One of the main benefits of resampling is to save CPU, so you can put more effects on your bass and really twist it up. It's not the only way of making basses but is a preferred method for most people. You can resample anything like drums and pads not just bass. It's just a different way to control and mangle your sounds.

You can get some decent basses sounds by resampling and effected especially if you're stuck in a rut synthesis wise

Depending on what DAW you're using, I'd recommend setting up and saving a Resampling Template, so you can easily load it up and get cracking whenever you feel the need.

In Ableton its all about freeze and flatten. You can then drag your bounced audio to one side, create another variation, rinse and repeat.

For me the quicker I'm out of midi and moving around audio the faster I'm making the music I want to make. Resampling is key.
