So i heard some drumstep mixs which were dubstep and drum and bass tunes, but when i looked for drumstep tunes i only found jumpup drum and bass called drumstep or some dubstep pretending to be drumstep. Well so i set out to make a Trance-drumstep tune unaware of what it was only that i wanted the beats to go between dubstep and drum and bass,,,, then i read that drumstep is at 175 with dubstep style beats?
So what is 140bpm sounding drum and bass????
(end of the day it doenst really matter ino just curios) Soundcloud
**also if this post doesnt belong here my apologies ^^

For me the concept of Dubstep is far too rigid. I hate the 'rules' of bass drum 1 and snare on 3. Why does it have to be that? People like Stenchman and The Widdler have shown that you don't have to abide by this. Dubstep should simply be "bass music around 140bpm".

acid house, old jungle, breakbeat, breakstep
drumstep is just halftime beat jump up dnb anyways has shit to do with dubstep besides using some of those same cheesy bro leads and sounds which jump up used to have the market cornered on

Breakbeat or Jungle from what you've described. Could feasibly be garage though...there's all sorts of genres that like to frequent the 140 mark so you can't really say any bass music at 140 is dubstep XD (aimed at whoever said that)

this might be a load of rubbish, but someone told me that the drum and bass bit in skream's going in for the kill was at 140 bpm? actually thinking about it, it does sound like breakbeat. baaaaahhhh

If that shocked you get ready to shit one of your nuts.
. . .
Most of the prodigy's 'experience' album sits around 140.
EDIT: But if you steal my idea about opening my sets with them then mixing into dubstep I'll hunt you down and...and...demand an apology!

Yep, it's between 140 and 155, so's Music For The Jilted Generation and Invaders Must Die.
140 can be breakbeat or jungle, like EmalKay's Crusader and Rusko's Hold On. I'm sure there are way better examples out there but you get the point.
Also, Broken Note's Mask Of Gas is at 160, if that has any relevance.

Is this some strange in-joke or is this conversation actually happening? Amens have been chucked over any tempo you could think of.
I can't believe drumstep is now considered a sound that can have its own offshoots.

Check out level by me on www.soundcloud.com/savoryaudio. Sorry can't link directly I am lazy and on cell phone but it's at the top of the page. About to be released shortly. Dnb influenced dubstep. Fuck the rules. Half step was actually uncommon when I started listening to dubstep.
