iPod Headphones

I've got a pair of Shure EC-1s, they're in ear headphones for listening to music on the bus or plane or whatever. They sound immense, both by blocking out background noise and just sounding really good. Problem is, the cables are really shitty - they stop working after a couple of years. I already replaced them once under warranty, but now the replacement pair is dropping in and out on the right channel depending on how I move the cable around.
Do I buy another pair of
Shure headphones even though they've burned me in the past? Anyone else got any recommendations?

"couple of years".
I've never owned headphones that lived that long. Even my HD25's got stolen and didn't make it to the 2 year mark.

Just to be clear we're talking about in ear headphones right? Not DJ headphones. I don't want to carry around bigass headies every day.

For DJing, yeah I'm with you 100%. Not just carrying around all day listening to an iPod, especially since they cost over £100. I want that to last forever!

i use the same headphones for everything. cant see the point in having one pair for personal use and another for djing. just spend the extra money and get something brilliant.

It's the size issue - earbud headphones for day-to-day is way more practical than big DJ headphones.

I had my CX-300 for about 3 years now, still working perfectly

Well, for 25 quick I can afford to give the CX-300 II a go. Ordered.

It does to me. Like when you are listening on the bus or whatever, you get to where you're going, you can put them in your pocket.

i think the cx-300 are the ones i have, only issue i ahve is that when the cables bang against something, the shock can is audible.
ive found this with most bud headphones though, and its only a real issue when running, sitting on the bus is fine.

What am I doing wrong with mine? I've had like 3 pairs and both have broken in a matter of months (sound goes quieter in one earphone)

so if someone wants to talk to you, it's easier to pull out the buds and hold them rather than throwing some headphones around your neck and having free hands?

hang them around the back of your neck
and when you're done, put them in your pocket. imo all the people who go around in public with headphones around their neck look pretty lame. especially if they're fucking skullcandy headphones

that's true. if i'm done listening to music or my ipod dies i'd hate to lug those around. but if man-purses were socially acceptable...
