Hopefully some other, less costly dev will release something similar, or perhaps even free?

What an incredible tool. I don't need it however. Especially not at that price.

would be nice, but that money could be put to more use elsewhere...for me anyway.

I'm not sure I like it...so now we are meant to mix to optimize playback in mp3 format rather than to make it sound the best in a lossless format? Maybe I misunderstood but I don't care if my tunes sound like shit once they're converted to mp3 as long as they sound tight on a dubplate and crispy clean off a rig...

I didn't understand the article did I? XD I can feel it in my bones, it just don't seem right lol

no-- will help you create different mixes/masters for the different mediums.

Is it wrong to mix and master to vinyl? Same thing, different medium.

Oh I see. So the idea is to render separate versions of the tune with subtle differences in the mix designed to optimise playback with any format.

Seems a bit like nitpicking to me. Surely the whole point of mp3 is that it sounds shitter than lossless XD the shitter the better in my opinion. Then maybe more people will be inspired to go out and actually buy physical music rather than torrenting shit.

When your listen on laptop speakers, It don't matter what you feed them, it's all going to sound like shit imo.

Ahh I posted here I guess it didnt go through but "pro" is who and who are they sounding better than? Anyway I disagree that this thing will help you to sound more pro. A good mixdown should translate through the different formats. Analog is a whole other animal you can't compare the process. The thing if anything you would want to optimize for is people listening on cell phones and laptops and shit or headphones even but how do you know what people are listening to shit on? Seems like a waste of time until the streaming device is able to detect your audio set up. It could happen someday...

Nitpicking over super subtle differences between different codecs isn't something I'm ever going to do at home.
If some ME is using it, great but otherwise, c'mon.

Pro is people that pay for quality (not just) mastering, and they're sounding better than people sitting in their dinning rooms making toons.

Huh? I thought pro was when you made money from it not what you pay out. Nothing more nothing less. I also see no reason why someone couldn't make a professional sounding tune in their dining room and anyway "better" is completely subjective.

Unfortunately, I do.

Maybe I misunderstood the idea of this software, but to me it's just more of a convenience plugin than anything. It's not meant to make anything you do sound better, it's just to limit the amount of time you spend mastering for different conversion formats. Slap it on your master and it will playback the quality of the chosen format/sample rate that is chosen, completely taking out the need for having to render out multiple formats to test sound and then tweak and re-render to test again.
