Alright fella's...

Been doin a search around and been hearing about using the notch filter to bring out the harmonics in basses and i guess any other type of sound for arguements sake. My question is what exactly is a notch filter and if anybody could help me by explaining how to create one in reason it would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

A notch filter controls a range of frequencies. So whereas a lowpass filter starts "closed" at 0 hz (for example) and the cutoff gradually opens to higher frequencies, a notch filter would let through a range of frequencies, and "block off" the other ones. So a notch filter could be set to a range of frequencies like 100 hz - 1 khz and then you can move that range up and down with the cutoff knob.

Thor's state variable filter has a notch filter built in.
