I like it, good balance between the lighter/heavier portions of the song.

That's what Katy Perry looks like without make up and a wig? Shocking!

Thought it was fucking cool. If it didn't have the pop super star stigma on it then people would probably be all over this track.
Epic.

Yeah I've gotta say I haven't been really impressed with any of Noisia's dubstep remixes, even though they're on of my favorite artists.

lol you honestly think noisia was going to put any effort into a remix for katy perry?

the last thing any quality group would want to ever do is make a banging IDM remix to mainstream garbage like katy perry

its plain and simple, you make average/below average remixes of big name mainstream singers so the tunes don't get recognition and people can forget you ever made them.

That makes no sense at all. These remixes gain them a huge amount of exposure on mainstream media... You'll want the track to be good. Because surprise surprise, most successful musicians want their music to be heard by as many people as possible.

I know it's really hip to think mainstream is evil and that only people in sweaty dark rooms should listen to dubstep. But these guys did remixes for madonna, robbie williams, moby etc. Why? because you can actually make some bloody money. Unlike 98% of all the "underground" hipster with a cracked copy of Fruity loops or logic.

And let's be realistic people. Noisia did a sick track. Production wise. The rest is down to subjective taste.

noisia already has a huge fan base, both in mainstream electronic music and underground as well. unlike some artists they aren't in it for the fame imo. they already get booked all over the world, they couldn't release another tune for two years and still get booked to play every week because their name is already known.

this remix isn't going to make them shit compared to how much their making off split the atom still to this day. even if the exposure is mainly on the 16bit remix of machine gun, the original tune is by noisia so most people hearing it will naturally want to know a little bit about the original producers of the tune.

and your thinking the exact opposite, since this tune is going to be heard by a huge number of "mainstream" heads, they don't even need to put any effort in it at all because most mainstream people honestly have no clue about the sound to begin with. perfect example, listen to rusko's production of britney spears, it sounds horrible to most EDM heads, but to the mainstream people, they eat that shit up.

not every producer is in it to get mainstream, you don't have to be mainstream to be successful at all, noisia is a perfect example, i assure you the madonna remix was done by her PR people, they simply heard a hip new artist and decided to try and get madonna's name out there again by telling them to remix it. shit madonna will have any electronic artist remix her tunes because she's that desperate to stay relevant, noisia already have a huge fan base, this remix was simply done for kicks just to keep them on their edge production wise, its nothing special, they recycled pretty much all the same sounds from split the atom and put katy perry's vocals over it. i mean it is a quality production but noisia is obviously better than that, you know it, and so do they.

So why would they remix katy perry if they don't like it or need to?

They recycle sounds to keep them on edge? Nice rhetoric.

they don't do it necessarily to keep themselves on edge, they do it merely to show fans that they are still around making music in the slightest sense. so people don't think they have merely fallen off

you can't keep touring forever without coming out with new material, instead of pure original productions, its a good change of pace to do remixes of pop artists.
