Certain frequencies affecting emotions...

This has been something I've been thinking about for a while. If anyone can link me to resources discussing the theory behind this, I'd be most appreciative! :)

From my own research I've found that certain high range frequencies that have a similar audio to robots fucking have lead to wild ape like behaviour involving young shirtless men swinging their arms round and bumping into each other. This type of behaviour is usually located directly in front of the DJ booth.

I do not approve.

Tigers give off a roar before they kill that contains certain frequencies that literally paralyze their pray with fear

Sonic Warfare by Kode 9 would be a recommended read

If you can skip past the meaningless numerology and offtopic NWO conspiracy talk that frequently crops up on these types of threads on ATS, there is some really interesting food for thought here from some people that are way into the body energy side of things:

Subtle effects of sound on the body (D A G D C Gb = 'solfeggio' sequence to stimulate pineal gland through binaural amplitude whatsis?)
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread341645/pg1

Effects of Stretches, binaural beats
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread636676/pg1

Sound and its interaction with architecture; silence vs sound
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread417583/pg1

There was also a thread about this on DSF (can't find just now) which quickly turned into an extremely tiresome religion-vs-science flamewar, let's not have that happen this time :w:

Edited to add another, much less dodgy link about some scientific work around megaliths, resonating rocks including audio, and trance states @ 110hz:
http://www.landscape-perception.com/archaeoacoustics/

And more on Solfeggio/medieval tuning:

Some interesting connections to Chinese medicine from a post buried in the ATS thread I linked above. I don't know quite what to make of the elemental interaction stuff :james:

There's a stub with exact details of frequencies in this scale here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_musicology
Bashibozkedi wrote:In Chinese medicine the five main organs of the body are said to resonate with one of the five notes used in Chinese music . Chinese music uses a pentatonic (five note) scale as opposed to the western heptatonic (seven
note) scale

The Western seven note scale can be approximated to the Chinese five note scale and the organs affected by it as follows:

WESTERN NOTE----------Chinese Element--------------------ORGANS
C---------------------------WATER----------------------KIDNEY and BLADDER
A and B---------------------WOOD-------------------LIVER andGALLBLADDER
G-----------------------------FIRE--------------HEART and SMALL INTESTINE
F and E-----------------------EARTH--------------SPLEEN and STOMACH
D------------------------------METAL-------------LUNG and LARGEINTESTINE

Each note affects a particular organ or "element". Whether particular sounds are good or bad for you depends on which organs or element are out of balance in your system.

I had a patient (I am a physician/healer/shaman)who had a neck problem.
she went for a walk in the hot sun with her neck uncovered as she thought this would help her neck, when she came back her neck was stiff and painful.

It stayed like this until a month later she went to hear Beethoven's Mass in C, within 10 minutes of the music starting her neck loosened up and the pain disappeared.

She asked me if I could explain this, which is actually quite simple using the above chart.

Her neck had been invaded by Heat (Fire Element). She listened to music in the key of C (Water element). Water puts out Fire according to Chinese medicine, and so her neck got better.

Had she listened to music in the Key of A or B (Wood element) the problem would probably have got worse as Wood burns and engenders Fire according to the Chinese.

So different people would need different music to heal them. The music which might heal one person could make another feel worse.

One mans music may indeed be anothers poison.
Keep posting links up, there's so many approaches to this field across different disciplines!

You might not realise but European musical structure is rooted in numerological mysticism advanced by Pythagoras, the same person who gave us those equations on how to work out the hypotenuse of a triangle (the longest side) using information on the other two sides. In ancient Greece musical theory used to be known only to an esoteric cult...

street_astrologist - Thanks a lot for taking time to post those links, some really interesting stuff i wouldn't have come across otherwise. Karma to you.
