city of god is amazing.
a scanner darkly, and waking life, both are gorgeous and insightful. If you've ever lived with drug people (like tweekers, or real addicts) the the movie is ultra hilarious
i really dug 300, not for the violence, but more because it was amazing to see what people can be capable of if they work together like one unit. not just in battle, but in life. i feel like the spartans had it figured out, and we lost it. course im not so into the sex with another guy aspect of spartan culture tho...
The Game - super badass. i wish i could pay for a life-changing experience like that... it was amazing.
the princess bride - naturally.

Eternal Sunshine was on Channel 4 last night - really impressed. Odd how Jim Carrey's turning out to be a pretty good actor from being quite annoying years ago (Adam Sandler managed a similar thing in Punch Drunk Love if I remember rightly)
Really liked -
Human Nature - very funny and intelligent comedy (from Michel Gondry who did Eternal Sunshine)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219822/
Your Friends and Neighbours (ultra-cynical relationship comedy)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119517/
Dead Mans Shoes - low budget revenge drama, seems to slip from very silly to scarily intense with surprising ease
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419677/
Art School Confidential -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364955/ - essential if you've ever had to hang around with art studes for say more than ten minutes
Session 9 -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0261983/ - one of the best horrors I've seen in a long while, real psychological, disorientating stuff from the guy who did El Maquinista (the Machinist)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361862/ bit like Jacob's Ladder but more unnerving

WOODY ALLEN!! if youre a woody newbie check out any of these to get into the groove of things
annie hall
sleeper
zelig
manhattan
bananas
everything you ever wanted to know about sex
diane keaton was nice looking back in her day. cant beat annie hall.
i'm even loyal to his new movies although they are obviously going downhill, gone downhill. 'scoop' and 'matchpoint' werent disgusting or anything. but he's getting up there in age. big up the paranoid, jewish, neurotic, new york liberal, (sexual pervert) gang
also, not woody allen, but just rented "tideland"... very cool

match point was fantastic what are you talking about
it was like a slick, modern version of george stevens' 1951 classic:

havent seen that movie there. but matchpoints ending was so ... i dunno, i loved it of course, not his best though... what'd you think of scoop? that girl is nice looking too though. woody's got good taste.
on a side note, nobody else can sample woody allen in any dubstep tracks.. i've got dibs.

the ones from the 80's are never at blockbuster or hollywood, i need to start going somewhere else anyway. "anything else" was actually surprisingly good, with christina ricci and the weirdo from american pie

have you seen sweet and lowdown?
one of my favorites. any music lover should be able to appreciate it.
radio days is a similar format, but more charming and less quirky
shadows and fog is one the most slept on gems
