New resampling technique [tutorial update]

Hey all,

So i've been working on a new resample technique. It's a combination of my old workflow and some new elements. I used to just make a long recording with loads of automations, in the key of the song, using portamento etc.

Then load that recording in my project and start layering, arranging, pitching that. I split the frequencies, add fx to each channel (low, mid, high) etc. From there on my new technique starts. I record samples that are perfect for granulating. And they must be complementary to the bass your re sampling. Load the granulized audio in a slicer and start layering it with your bass samples.

The song below is still a work in progress, but shows to some extend what I'm doing atm:

quick question a granulizer is kinda like a sampler taking a sound and mostly making it into slices kinda like malstrom from massive

I think malstrom is a sort of a synth for reason, with FM and granulizing synthesis.

Sounds amazing dude. Could you post a quick tut on how you do things? (resampling and automation wise)

thanks :D

I have a couple of deadline's in the near future. When I'm done I'll make a video tut.

Here's a video showing some automations, no screen capture though.

very creative, may I ask which sampler/slicer you are using?

What is a granulizer exactly?

Thanks guys!

A granulizer is a fx unit that slices the audio in to "grains", snippets so to speak. You have multiple parameters adjusting playback of those snippets.

it's like I just learned how to assign the lfo to cutoff all over again.

I use FL studios granulizer. Lovely tool. Have not tried the above links though.

Oh and I use Slice x and FL slicer for slicing-re arranging. Sometimes Kontakt, but rarely for bass.

timestretching bass sounds. wow, it's one of those things where you're like "THATS GENIUS HOW DIDN'T I COME UP WITH THAT MYSELF" :D especially considering that i do it to breaks all the time (breakcore massive unite! ;) )
thanks for sharing, definetly gonna try that out.
