looks like you need a killer machine as a PC to manage that. why is it done visually so extensive?
i'm not sure what to think about that.. i don't want people messing around a track of mine by simply opening this programm and breaking it down to it's elements.
on the other hand ' could generate a whole new approach to music.

My lecturers signalled this piece of kit as the end of music.
I giggled. I've had countless times that I just wanted a single sample from a song.

I feel music could be incredible if this becomes big. Imagine everyone looking into everyones ideas. That's a good thing.

I remember Melodyne claiming to be able to do this years ago, even breaking up chords. Whatever happened with that?

It got released and does exactly what it says on the tin. It didn't claim to break the songs into stems. Just work out the pitch and placements of notes

Could make sets interesting, and pretty inventive

Yeah and apparently it works even better than many suspected. I was very doubtful of the claims. The real question is why haven't I messed with it? Not nearly enough time in the day

Well it's certainly a game changer. I don't think that this is the first thing tagged as the end of music and the last time I checked music is still happening. What is happening now with the digital domain I believe is devaluing music. For a certain point of view it is a disaster but for another it's freedom. I love music, I don't necessarily love all the things that go along with it. It really could end up being an awesome thing imo.

Could go either way. Yeah, I can imagine it open up a lot of creativie possibilities, sampling wise. But it can also make for some very, boring, uninspired sampling.

A company has been making a media player which does this, saves it as a certain format and can only be played on their media player..
I heard about it in like 06-07... Its really not a new thing just getting more publicity.
The only people who'd take advantage of this is samplers anyways and at the end of the day, most hardcore samplers enjoy the chase of finding a good sample and won't agree with this.
Its not a big deal.

let's just hope they make it horribly expensive and give it the best copy protection ever.
i kinda doubt the program will be able to deal with midrange cack... most basslines are a giant atonal mess of noise, heavily modulated. maybe it'll interpret your typical filth bassline as a chord or something
which means all the kids will pirate it, try to rip skrillex's newest bassline so they can be like him, find out it doesn't work and give up frustrated.

It's like 90... something (dollar/pound/euro, don't know which one).

I guess this spells the end for cut and paste bootlegs and we'll be hearing people remixing original tunes to the point where the line between original and remix is blurred.
