middle eastern jam: Are you going for like a "dust and scratches" vinyl feel in the first seconds of the tune (and through out) w/ that SFX? I think that needs a little work--for me its going to sound better if it has some higher frequency in it. Sounds kind of muddy or like there is weird EQing on it.
I like that it's glitchy. I think that is working for the track.
This is more a personal taste comment, but there are some sounds that just sound screachy to me (starting after 1:00.
Can't decide if I like that the sitar(?), or whatever the emulated ethnic string instrument is, sounds electronically emulated...that it doesn't sound acoustic in anyway. Part of me thinks: well that works with the rest of the track, it's glitchy and "sounds electronic". Then part of me thinks: well, would it add something if it sound more acoustic, but still worked with the track.
Something of this life: I like the structure of the track. Like the high hats. I'm not keen on samples like the vocal in the beginning, but I know a lot of people dig that. I just can't do that little, thin synth melody on the track (sound design wise). I like that idea of the sound, of having an element like that present but it doesn't mesh with the rest of the track for me.

ok thanks man!
yeah the idea was to make it a bit vinyl-glitchy, I didn't like the sound of the white noise with the highs too much, so i sent it to an LPF

There are probably VST's that will add "dust and scratches" to a sound, though I prefer just knowing how to do these things. Also, I bet you could find a dust and scratches FX in a sample pack somewhere.
The track in my signature uses a "scratched vinyl" pad (mostly hear it in the beginning). I took a little circuit glitch sound and kind of turned it into a pad by using reverb and a delay bank VST (there was some other messing with about with it too).
