im still slightly confused as to who people consider to be brostep

and what makes a tune brosteppy

BROSTEP
shitty main stream mid range synths
Brostep is NOT a genre
high pitched scretches and robot farts
brostep was a name that was made up here by someone
US college students listening to hyped up wubby step
Standard kick snare type beat with a build up of drums towards the drop
Theres is bass in most "brostep" type tunes but becomes lost in an abundance of midrange sound
manic screech oscillations and uninspired drum programming
jump up gone to far
incoherent noisy mess
fidget house with the kick/snare placement & tempo of dubstep

ugh.... when will people get this

Brostep is NOT a genre and brostep doesnt refer to any one particular sound.

its just a term that refers to the scene of shirtless guys at a rave, with eyes the size of the moon, moshing. and it just so happens that they like the high pitched scretches and robot farts. thats all.....

i can hear a song without seeing its fans and know it's brostep.

brostep can be brostep without shirtless moshers.

actually bro... brostep was a name that was made up here by someone,
it has more to do with US college students listening to hyped up wubby step.

now its become the identity for some real gougey, midbass tracks!

It has been said many times before and i'm certain it will continue to be discussed time and time again but, if you want to clearly define brostep it would go something like this;

Standard kick snare type beat with a build up of drums towards the drop. Theres is bass in most "brostep" type tunes but the trouble is it becomes lost in an abundance of midrange sound. The staple sounds of this particular branch of bass music would be the high pitched screeches, robot noises and that awfull yoy sound.

But it can all be much simpler (and this is the angle i take); if you like a tune then who cares what category it fits into. Just enjoy the music, couldn't be simpler.
If it evokes emotion in you and you feel the track then just go with it.

ya honestly i could care less i was just curius tho as to why many people call ruskos stuff brostep he clearly loves his music and puts alot of energy into his djing aside producing for britney spears. witch i think is an atrocity. but aslo could really give a shit.. mayebe this new injury will give him some good perspective and time while hes workin on some tunes or is all hope lost for rusko.

its all because rusko pioneered that style of step, in one of tracks in 06/07... i think.
cats loved it & the great divide was started!

Rusko is the man, cross genre ftw!

rusko's tunes are far from brostep, they may sound a bit cheesy here and there, but it isn't brostep

honestly their are two variants to it imo, NOISE CHAINSAW BROSTEP, AND WELL PRODUCED HARDER DUBSTEP

hear a difference?

Rusko did only great things for dubstep.

I personally label brostep as the wonderful tearout shit that usually has very simple drum patterns, but complex synth usage.

I always hope that maybe one day, most dsf posters will stop being ignorant twats... one can only hope.

this shit would be a lot better if the drums were swung, or just not so 'standard' generally (see: goth trad). The really quick, manic screech oscillations and the straight drums are what define 'brostep' to me. Or the neuro dnb influenced stuff, which also tends to have really uninspired drum programming.
