Started this today, trying to learn about reverbs and working on my hats, also need help on snares.
If anyone has learnings they could share I would appreciate it but if not, I'll learn it eventually.
Tell me if you like it, or don't.

man.....I'm not gunna lie that intro needs heavy amounts of work. there is soo much you could do with it though so dont worry too much.
for starters you need some atmosphere. or even cut it in half so its not so long.
rest of it was not bad you have some nice sounds going on but it needs more love

yeah I agree with Corey, cut the intro down a bit and add some more groove into it! Your bass it really nice. def add some more atmosphere to keep the listener listening. Keep at it!!!

I've shortened the intro and the whole song from 6 mins to 5 mins, and added atmosphere (I think) to the track. Any further feedback?

Nice this sounds pretty decent! I would definitely suggest adding some atmosphere, either with some pads or some random samples. Put a super long reverb tail on a sample, resample it and chop the sample so there's only the reverb tail left. That way there'll be a background canvas without it highjacking the main melody.
The midrange isn't really my cup of tea, but I was pretty impressed by the organ sounding midrange, that was pretty unique and fresh!

Thanks. How would you arrange the reverb tail if it were your song? Right now I put some mastering stuff like a eq, compressor, and a limiter on the Master track.
I also have a question: Is it best to master on the master track or should I export the song in 24 bit and put it back in to ableton to master it?

Usually ill do a drum hit with a super long reverb on it, huge size room and then sample it. Take the sampled hit and cut off the actual drum hit so only the reverb is there. Then you can layer it, reverse it and throw it ontop of everything!eldoogle wrote:Thanks. How would you arrange the reverb tail if it were your song? I usually prefer to just do any mastering on the master track. The only time i find it useful to bounce the audio first is if my computers having a hard time handling all the tracks.

This has some real fuckin potential man. Even without any reverb it sounds really good, and I love that little drum break you have in the intro. The basslines are sounding very straightforward, which is good, and the whole track is suiting well.
I reckon get rid of the second part of the intro (with the half time drums), you don't need it. And go with what has already been suggested above
Also, don't go compressing and limiting your master track, just turn everything down and work with each instrument individually. Refer to the moneyshot thread here.
(I listened to the second track, http://soundcloud.com/eldoogle/gone-krazi-pt-2)

Should the tail reverb be only on the build ups or everywhere?
