fucking hell, there are some chilling tales in there...

feel free to share any SNHO creepy (true, experienced) stories in this thread

example:
bsidez wrote:When I was about 17, me and a couple of my friends used to drive out to Union Cemetery in Easton, CT to do some late night ghost hunting. We'd walk around and take photos, never really captured anything too amazing. If you haven't been to that part of CT, the roads are very long and windy. Its deep in the middle of the woods where there are no street lights and houses are like a mile or 2 apart from each other. The road to the cemetery itself is probably about a 10-15 mile single lane road with just a few creepy looking run down houses. The drive alone is enough to creep you out enough to the point where you wouldn't want to set foot in the cemetery.
So anyways, me and two of my friends were on this one trip up. We we're heading down the road to the cemetery at like 2 in the morning when this car comes up behind us out of nowhere and starts riding dangerously close behind me, to the point where i couldn't even see his head lights in the rear view mirror. We slow down, thinking its a cop or something, its hard to see and we can't make out anyone behind the wheel. They slow down and keep almost the exact distance.... we speed up again, still keeps the same distance.... didn't think much about it at this point, maybe just some asshole driver in a hurry or something. So we finally get to the cemetery, we didn't want to be seen pulling into the cemetery that late at night so just past it is a rotary with 2 other roads that cross paths, so we decide to pass the cemetery and go through the rotary to turn around and come back. As we approach the rotary we go around once, the car follows... go around a 2nd time, the car follows again, now we start to freak out.... 3rd, 4th, 5th time around and the car is still following us. We can finally see that its an older car.... late 80's or early 90's Corolla or something but we still can't make out the driver. I finally just said fuck it and pulled off a random point in the rotary and just start driving as fast as I can.... he still follows us and at this point we're about 50 or 60 feet ahead of him and I see him flip off his headlights. Now remind you there are no street lights on this road, its pitch black. I'm doing about 45-50 and at this point we think that we lost him.... when about a minute later, his head lights come back on and he's right behind us again, then his headlights go out...... about 20 seconds, come back on he's about 15 feet behind us again. He does this about 3 or 4 times.. Finally I slam on the breaks and pretty much come to a dead stop and he's about 10 feet back from us. His head lights go out again and this time I floor it and get up to about 60, his headlights come on again and I see that he's pretty far away this time and for some reason I think to pull into the first driveway that I see. So we take a right up a very narrow driveway and we just sit and wait.... no car passes. My hearts pounding like crazy and I'm getting ready to get out and start running towards the house, but nothing ever happens.... No car ever passed by us and when we finally get up the nerve and pull out of the driveway about 10 minutes later, there is no sign of the mysterious driver.... we decided not to go to the cemetery that night.

i know right, there are like 3000 stories on there, some of them gave me full body chills

even if 99% of them are false memories or outright lies, that 1% that are true is creepy enough for me

Dunno why I do this to myself. Despite trying to approach everything utterly rationally, I still read these and get shit scared for the next day or two. And I do it every time I come across these type of scary stories. And I just can't stop.

Slenderman and the Rake were the last things to chill me this much.

this is a little story of my own

now this happeneds to really good friend of mine (haha i know right), i choose to beleive him because he isnt known as someone who makes shit up.

anyway i live on the 'southcoast' of NSW in australia, whenre i live its kind of a bunch of coastal towns dotted up the coast 1km-5km apart and what not.

Anyway there was a rumor of a ghost that used to sit on a corner on a stretch of road between 2 towns. and my mate was working at a bakery at the time and had to drive along this stretch of road to get their (working at a bakery he starts at 3am and finishes at 7 or something. so he us passing this place at the dead of nighttime.

anyway one night on their way to work they were coming up to this corner, he recons maybe about 100M away he thinks he sees something sitting on the kurb rail.... the closer he gets he recon the more deffined it gets. and about 20M away from it it jumps out of the road and the drive straight through it.

he didnt say it looked like a person but he recons it was deffinatly something, and they guy he worked with seen it as well.

just a bit freaky seeing as that particular corner was rumored to have a ghost.

Anyone else have any stories of themselves or people they know encountering weird shit

There was actually a thread here a short while back with a load of people's creepy experiences. Can't remember who it was but one ninja had a 'ghost' or something appear in front of the car in the middle of a dark country lane.

Put the shits in me because I drive down a short country lane after I drop my girlfriend home at night. Made all the more creepier by the fact that last summer we came across a dead white horse, just lying in a path just off the lane.

Same here, it's just addictive for some reason. It's midday and i'm going to be looking behind me and behind doors for the rest of the day.

Oh it's without a doubt completely made up, but there's something about it. I think it's just me personally not liking the idea of something being about when I'm sleeping.

not entirely terrifying, but was in the act of trying to be terrified

i grew up in dallas ft worth.... huge area but a lot of areas that haven't been developed yet.

A few miles outside of the town I lived in there was a place where some rich guy had started to develop a community. Probably about a 12 block by 12 block area few hundred acres of land he owned all to himself. Had a water tower, some large gates, wooded area, and these weird kind of towers that looked like lighthouses randomly on the lot.

Apparently this guy wanted to develop it as a small city for himself. He built a town square and a couple of large estates on it. At some point he went nuts, killed himself, and something happened with the estate to a point where they decided not to finish it. So there were a few dozen buildings, some residencies, all halfway built and abandoned.

Of course rumors started developing about this guy committing suicide and the place being haunted and it became a tourist kind of location for kids. You'd go out there, drive around, walk around a bit, get scared go home. We had done this a few times.... any time you get a new person in your group you bring them out there, freak em out, get some laughs.

Well one night we decide to be dumb assholes and go to the wooded area and climb to one of the towers. Sure enough we got to an area where the road hadnt been paved and I get a flat tire. No worries we put on the donut all is good. Little did my dumb teenage ass know that donuts arent permanent tires and arent meant to go far.... so we continue down said dirt road and get to an opening. We get out start fucking around and climb to said tower. In there is a spray painted pentagram and two dead dogs, we freak out and run back to my car... drive about half a mile and donut goes out.... cant drive any further. So we're about 2 miles into this estate and have to start walking to the highway to flag someone down for help (this was pre-cell phone age).

Get about a mile towards the road and see a car coming.... we wave to the car for help and hear a car full of girls screaming bloody murder, they freak out and drive off the road into a hill. We run to go check them out and the girls run out of the car away from us scared for their lives. We calm a few of them down and one girl is barrelling through a field thinking we're some kind of ghost or some shit and eventually we got her calmed down.

So now there are about 8 of us on foot, 2 abandoned cars walking to the highway. One of our friends who had been in the area with us finds our car abandoned and goes to a gas station and calls the cops. By the time we get to the highway theres a gang of 8 teenagers all torn up from walking at night through this abandoned housing development, 2 wrecked cars, the cops give us citations for curfew our parents get called, shit gets towed etc etc longest night of my life.

I get home sit down on my bed turn off the lights and my fucking asshole stepdad busts in the door with a mask and knife on trying to fuck with me and hands me the towing bill and says i have to pay it before i get my car back

I had sleep paralysis once. It was fucking hellish, you can't put in words how scary it is. For no real reason. Was just trying to go to sleep, and felt a sensation of being lifted from the bed by something, about a foot or two above it and a seriously macabre feeling about my surroundings like there was some horrid evil force controlling me it was so fucked up. Was too petrified to try and sleep again too.

Apparently it happens when the bits of your brain that control movement go to sleep before the bits that control though do. Something along those lines anyway.
