I'm writing an essay on the development of the Berlin club scene (fall of the wall etc). Does anyone have any good resources on it, articles, books etc. At the moment I've just got a few DVDs and some online stuff. Cheers.

Maybe you can contact some labels, like Bpitch control, Tresor, Cocoon Recordings etc..

Was thinking of emailing some people. Emika went to my uni and works in Berlin now and one of my lecturers said I might be able to get in touch with her or something, wouldn't know what to ask her tbh though.

Just out of curiosity, what course/degree entails writing essays on Berlin techno?

mate, i'm pretty sure more has been written about techno in berlin than just about any electronic music scene in the world. unfortunately i can't remember many articles off the top of my head, but do some googling on:

hardwax / basic channel
tresor (before it re-opened) / e-werk / ostgut
love parade

there's a RBMA video interview with someone whose name I can't remember which might be worth a look. she now works with HWC, a vinyl production agency based partly in berlin and partly in sweden, but IIRC the review talks a lot about her experiences as an artist on the 'scene' in berlin in the 90s. er... hopefully the RBMA title will mention 'handle with care' or something and not just her name.
