uhh.. could you explain how this is *not* dubstep? i've been attending underground edm parties in california for years now, burning man as well, i've heard west coast dubstep from its early days up until the current time. take away the vocals and this sounds really close to what i heard just a few weeks ago at an underground outdoor festival in norcal, with maybe just a bit less wobble bass. hell, don't even take away the vocals. a lot of the producers i hear these days are doing remixes of pop songs anyway, and they sound a lot like this. are people unwilling to suggest this is dubstep just because it came from britney spears? or from a corporate record label? if this track were written but a local producer with street cred, britney spears were not singing the lyrics, and perhaps there were a bit less lyrical content, and this track appeared on addictech or any other electronic music download site, it would almost surely be labeled 'dubstep' as the primary genre. many of us in the local electronic scene have been noting for years about how depstep has been going more commercial. i'm not surprised to see this happening. it kinda reminds me of the arguments over "what is punk rock" when i was into that. the "true punks" wouldn't accept that anything on mtv was punk, regardless of how exactly like punk rock music it was. somehow it was just different but i could not find a convincing argument that it really was any different. this track is pretty slow already. did i hear someone say something about slowing it down to 70 bpm? i just fired up my mixer and tapped along with the beat of this track to find out the bpm and it seems to be 63 bpm.
all of that being said, i'm totally willing to be wrong here. could someone explain how this is *not* dubstep?

Can't believe Blackdown missed this off The Roots Of Dubstep. What a joker. It clearly has a kick on the 1st, and a giant snare on the 3rd, how is this *not* dubstep? You all just don't know. You h8rs.
