So im buying a new laptop for producing music...not looking to spend over $1500. Im using FL studio, NI massive. Sooooo i need a PC. Any suggestions? im think about an Asus. Any criticism on that brand? I saw some good acers, but i hear they break easily and have alot of problems soo im trying to stay away from those...Thanks for the help everyone. Big up.

Soo £932. That would quite easily buy you a top spec gaming desktop. I personally have an Acer and it hasn't let me down thus far. For the kind of money you're spending i'd imagine you could buy something that pretty much wont die, just be sure to prioritise ram, 4gb of fast ram will probably be sufficient backed up by a decent cpu.

Anything in that price range is going to do the job in overkill, so it shouldnt matter to much.

They're all within your price range and have great specs. Plus, most laptops with specs like these often go for twice the price.

don't you think that's a bit overkill? core i5 @ 2.5 GHz would be enough with 4 GB of RAM. Also think about whether you really need a 17" display... If yor produce a lot from your bedroom, invest in a decent 22" screen (e.g. Samsung SyncMaster) and get a 15" notebook. In my opinion the best brand is IBM/Lenovo you cant go wrong there, also you may want to look at the Acer TimelineX series, they are supposed to have 8+ hours of battery life. You can get a very decent laptop for ~600€. Invest the rest of your 1500 in some other audio/DJing gear. FL runs on my super oldschool PC without any problems.

Love my lenovo. Check out their outlet. Got my little desktop for about 50% off because it was redistributed with a $20 windows 7 upgrade (this was awhile back though... so just get one with 7 64 bit imo).

And do a quick check of the processor rating at newegg... good way to double check what's inside.

I got an acer aspire i5 2.6 ghz 3 gig ram for 550 GBP round christmas. Id definatly recommend the i5 but if you can afford it go for i7.

here is a "not" recommendation : DELL, not even good for internet / office I have found.
