Headphones HELP PLEASE

Ok so I've had a decent pair of headphones for a while now, but all the sudden, the bass in them is dead...they have absolutely no bass whatsoever. So I come to ask for some suggestions for a replacement set of headphones. Here is a list of restrains to narrow down which set to use:

-Must have bass
-Must have balanced frequencies (bass doesnt overpower mid and treble and its not too quiet either - same with the mids and treble)
-Must have a removable 3.5mm cord
-Must not leak
-Must feel comfortable
-Must be good quality
-Must be under $150

I will be using them for producing, rapping, and mixing. any suggestions? :|

Sennheiser HD280 Pro's -> I love mine. They sound amazing, flattest headphones I've ever owned as well. They are quality built and very comfortable. They are rather large, and since I do not take them out of the house I love them for this. They go completely around your ears with very plush foam, that really blocks out any external noise, and is very comfortable.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50's -> Heard these are great too, but I have never used them.

Both are about 100 bucks and the best you can get for the price range.

Really? Sounds nice thanks for the advice! Do they leak? It is important because i record hiphop vocals.

meh i looked at those I don't really like them much...i found three on sweetwater that I think are interesting ( although the price is a bit WAY HIGHER THAN MY BUDGET!!! oh well, ill just have to save up from the hiphop beats then ) ... so anyway here they are, tell me what you think of them:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SRH840/
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BeatsProBK/

Normally I would say that beats by dre suck, but I hear good things about the pro's so im thinking maybe. All of them are out of price range, but all of them seem to be a good option.

There was a really big, decent thread on this a while back, loads of recommendations and suggestions...

I would have a look for it but I just woke up and haven't had a caffeine infusion yet, so I'll leave you to do the search :)

LOL so true. I like Dre though, but yeah "beats" can kiss my ass.

The beats have WAY too much bass if you plan on using them for producing. Get something more flat. I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD280 pros also.

look doesn't matter man, you wont be wearing them out.... and if you record vocals your def going to want the hd280's unless you want to spend a ton of money...

they dont leak at all. there isolation is awesome. and they are actually known to be a very good tracking (vocals) headphones

just look up stuff on the internet about the hd280's and tracking...

edit: btw monster beats are not headphones for studio. they are hifi headphones for general listening. yes they do sound nice and are of good quality, but they have boosts in certain frequencies, this coloring the sound, and making it untrue.

I will be wearing them out cuz my friend stole my earbuds and I don't have any other headphones right now...I may chose either the hd280's or this one here:

im not sure. idk if the silvers r the pro's or not. i dont think so. but honestly man i wouldnt base your decision on the look of them. if they were casual headphones for everyday listening i could see, but you said there for tracking so..

i did some more looking...they ARE the pros, just with silver capsules...its worth it for me to get the $10 upgrade for the silver since I will be wearing them around. Oh and I was wrong about them being cheaper, the silvers are almost $10 more expensive than the regular pros . . . they will be for casual listening and 'tracking'

one more thing - this may not be important to some people but it is to me. Do the hd280's have the removable cord so that I can replace it with any 3.5 mm aux cable?

I have been looking at the hd280's as well. I was wondering if they work well enough with a laptop or am I going to need an amp to help power them? Also, I've read and someone mentioned in a previous post that these are pretty flat as far as bass goes but, that is better for mixing correct?
Thanks DSF

yeah there pretty flat as far as everything goes. and they will work on a laptop or ipod. but they will work better with a good audio interface or an amp. the bass wont be quite as prominent on a laptop or an ipod. they are 64 ohms, and not too hard to push, but they do like some juice.

Is it just the Pro beats that are bad or are the Studio beats also included in that? My friend told me the studio beats are flat, looking for more insight into that if anyone knows.

nah they still have a huge boost in the lower frequencies. and there WAYYYY overpriced. sure they look cool, but for the price you can get much better headphones.

Ah, thanks a lot man, glad I decided to ask. I'll look into the hd280s since I'm using some 5 dollar headphones atm
