If you are going the protools route, you should already know what you are doing. If you don't know what you are doing, I wouldn't go the protools route.

I would also never EVER buy an m-audio interface (again).

well i already have 2 1/2 daws i use alot, and i always wanted to try protools fro recording guitar. beside's my usual ableton setup.

and what is the sample rate on the mbox? (im also avoiding m audio products, i hear scary things about them)

I personally wouldn't buy (and learn, no small thing) a daw and interface just to record a guitar. If I was doing serious multitrack recording, yeah, I'd definitely be checking out pt9. I think we're on different pages, so disregard my advice. :P
