People wanted for "dubstep with guitars" band (!)

Firstly, this is not a cynical attempt to cash in or anything (the NME 'dubstep' feature made me sick too...), just an honest attempt to merge the music I listen to.
Anyway, here's the spiel.
"Kode9 meets Joy Division/PiL" ?
"Einstürzende Neubauten mashed up with Loefah" ?
"Gang of Four as produced by Skream!" ?
Any guitarists / bassists / beat makers interested?

Guitar samples - good
Actual guitars - bad
PIL I can definitely see - always had a heavy dub influence in the early days what with Jah Wobble and Lydon's interest in dub. Gang of Four I can also figure would sort of fit
Quite like the idea of putting some James Chance and the Contortions type stuff together, they had quite a lurching funk style with free jazz skronk sax over the top
Don't play guitar any more but best of luck with it mate - always good to hear a new twist to stop things getting dull

Post Punk and Dubstep are two of my passions, although I dont see how the two could really work together. Especially has guitars will fill up the space which makes Dubstep feel huge..

I think the two are so obviously linked.... both are about:
CONSTRUCTING songs around bass and the beat.
Leaving GAPS in the music.
With the guitar and other effects filling the gaps - not just playing throughout. It's all about the "texture"......

kode 9 & martin hannet in the studio would be sik, I swear hannet was like a prototype Loefah anyway,
bob westons snare is prob my single greatest inspiration for a drum sound - next to just about anyone thats used an 808 ona track.
Keep the guitars away from the fuzz bozes n it shud be cool -
Ry Cooder would murk any 'deep' dubstep riddim & hed have sik connects fr the 'remixes'

I don't know about the fuzz boxes, it's not like dubstep basses aren't distorted ever is it. There's something about some early Girls Against Boys tunes (pretty sure they used two basses) which could fit pretty well (Bulletprof Cupid in particular). Also thought that some early Afghan Whigs could fit quite well (Let Me Lie to You for it's hypnotic quality, Milez is Ded even has a 2 steppish beat).
Pretty sure some Fugazi could fit the mould too to be honest, some of the stuff on Repeater has already got it's skank on.
As long as it's kept minimal don't think it's a problem. I think a lot of what could make it good is having an innovative, live-mix engineer adding fx and that producer touch to the overall sound.

Good luck with this! It's good that you have the cojones to try something new. Shonky - I agree with you about Repeater, I was listening to it the other day and there's some skankworthy stuff there fo sho. Did u know Minor Threat once did a dub version of 'Asshole' by Government Issue, mainly to take the piss out of Bad Brains (in a friendly way)? Doomstep - I'm good friends with one of Martin Hannett's cousins!
