btw, punch in a snare? I thought kicks punch...

but yeah predelay is a nice thingthat i tend to forget more often than not. thanks for the reminder!

Depends on the snare u go for but yours prob sound like kicks hehe

it's some meme from DOA, few years ago everyone wanted to have snares like pendulum. i'm more into rimshot-like snappy ones as well (though i definetly lack samples in that regard, but pitching up acoustic snares and layering with claps works for the moment)

Horrible snares have plagued Dubstep in recent years imo.

Yeah with the long reverbs I usually have to turn em right down to avoid drowning out the impact of the drum (using the 'verb as a send') but with this I seem to be able to get a lot more reverb out of it and retain the punch

so just to set the record straight, do u dial in highass predelay, or little amount...

i really suck at verbs.. no sheit... im a noob

Pre delay is one of your most effective tools for positioning sounds in a mix. In the abstract ambient space that a reverb "creates" small-ish (30-60ms roughly) values give the perception of depth, larger values push your sound closer to the front generally speaking. However with small pre delay values and cheap reverbs you may have phasing issues as early reflections interact with your source.

Experimentation is good.
