Say I have 3 osc's, they are all saw wave. I turn the first one down by an octave, i turn the second one down by an octave and i turn the third one down by just a couple semi's.

When i do this i here this weird almost like an LFO in with the bass...is that what phasing is?

Hmm I am pretty sure thats detuning which is phase shifting, im sure phasing is a little different.

Phasing can refer to alot of things...

Phase cancellation is when the left-right channels additively sum to 0 in mono, and elements of the tune disappear/duck in volume...

Phasing, Ive always used to refer to sweeping an all pass filter or w/e, like, a phaser effect.

In op's reece example... That would be offset phase/phase shifting in an additive synth... its the concept a reece is based around, which is until the out of phase oscillators make a full pass from lined up/out of line/lined up again with the tuned osc, the sound will never be the same technically at any point in the waveform.
