Right basically i've been producing for about a year now, doing like more 'filthy' beats, and i'm recently really getting into the darker, moodier side of dubstep, i've been listening to ALOT of requake and badklaat recently and quite honestly you cant top them at the minute, can anyone please give me any idea on how to create a sound in massive something similar to the sound straight after the drop, just have no idea atm would be very grateful if someone can give me a hand on this one.

Head top Good question re: Massive. I've got some interesting Requake sounds by sampling/resampling but not using Massive as yet. I really dig that style though.

Can't get enough of that style.. I call it sloppy wobbles!
These seem to work better if you do velocity-triggered wobble instead of lfo > cut off..
First, put a ENV on filter cut off . click the "VEL" all the way to full on the ENV .
Put it to around 9ish-clock and make the blue-ring cover around 1/4 to 1/3rd
Attached a LFO to next on the filter .
Now depending on the volecity and the note length, you'll get a different kind of sound... try it out!!

I was listening to The Aliens and Requake when I just said to myself "I can program these synths"
8 hours later, this song was done Soundcloud
It took me by surprise that I've gotten to the point where I can hear synths and know how to program them.
I'm not going to give it away of how to make this sound, but I can tell you I do use Reason, and there is no modulation of a lowpass filter whatsoever. I don't even have a lowpass applied, actually.
Think about what sort of waveform would make this smooth of a sound, and how could you modulate it to make it sound drippy.
Good luck!

Man, finally a thread, I already posted a question on a how to Requake-Waterdrops bass but no succes.
Using Reason 5 atm so any hint on getting those gnarly sounds would be amazing!

Sorry to ruin it but those synths are miles off.

Thing is, with a bit of CMT Bitcrusher with downsampling set from around 10-20... it would be pretty close.

You may be right, would definitely add the grit to it.

Yeah they are definitely off from the Badklaat tune he posted, but the synth I programmed is similar to Requake's Waterdrops sound. It's a similar concept though.

Sooooo basically if we don't use reason, no wet metallic wubs for us?

Very short delays and a short reverb for the higher mids and highs are good!
If you're using massive - try the duckorgan waveform, run it through a daft filter, automate the cutoff with a lfo with a ramp going down and mess around with the waveposition and the resonance.

I know for a fact that blunt by requake uses wave form 7 on reasons subtraktor. ^Very short delays also make the sound more metallic as mentioned before

Hertz wrote:Sooooo basically if we don't use reason, no wet metallic wubs for us?
u dont need reason or any expensive synths to do this
there are freeware synths capable of sounding like subtraktor etc
i might make a tutorial on this soon

would be awesome! Can't wait to see it and hopefully I'll learn some new things which brightens up my knowledge in synthesis

would also love to read/see this tutorial when its up, dying to get this sound to tweak and make my version of it what freeware synth sounds like subtraktor?

^^^Any synth that has digital waveforms, a comb filter, and some sort of FM function. Rob Papen ones are decent for a metallic sound
Out of interest, does anyone have any images of the numbered waveforms in subtractor?
