i mean it this way. All these kids at my school are hating on this genre of music and the people that listen to it are embarrased to say they like dubstep with out being self conscious that someone will think they are some f a g o t i personally don't think that way but I seriously think it blew up to quick where I live so only cool kids are supposed to listen to it wtf! and it's become some sort of style like certain clothes someone may wear. its become worse than electro!(not the actual music but you know) i mean i can talk about some genre like rock and roll without being called a douche bag. i personally don't talk about any music at school since im only there a couple hours a week with few to no kids in my class, but i just wanted to ask how do you feel about this genre dubstep and how it is portrayed in society? it may be different where you are staying but please discuss

I don't mind saying I like dubstep, not at all. I usually just follow it up with "I don't like sweetshop" so people know where I stand.

lmao theres nothing worse than saying you like dubstep then having your mate saying listen to this tune its sick,
then proceeding to play some power-drill noise through his phone speakers
thats when i get embarrased. easier to call it bass music.
i mostly just say i like garage and its subgenres. because most people ive met dont really even know what garage is so they just sorta go "ohhh cool alrigghhtttt"

I don't tell people what I do anymore.
I just try to avoid conversation by burping in their face.

anyone who identifys you and makes a judgment on you because of the music you say you're 'in' to is a tnuc and i wouldn't wanna be friends with. However if someone turned around and told me they loved jessie j i'd probably think they're an idiot.

Just tell them what you
don't listen to.
If they continue to ask you what you listen to, say you listen to Amishstopian. It mainly consists of banging on wood, candle burning, and occasional farm animal noises.
If they ask where they can find it, tell them it's super rare since the only audio recorded is off some guys phone who was spying on them when they were outside their shed.
You'll be with the in crowd before you know it.

"Bass music" as a genre name sounds retarded. That said I don't say I like dubstep either, it's like saying r'n'b and expecting people not to think you mean Rihanna/Chris Brown etc.

I (jokingly) said that to someone at a party in the US once and they responded "Oh my god, so do I."

It's funny because that's what I used to say when I didn't know any better.
