Advice/Tips on Production software

Hey everyone
I recently started attempting to produce my own dubstep with Reason 4. I found it very versatile but began to wonder if it is ideal for specifically dubstep. I find that the basslines that I produce are not as filthy as I would like and I don't know if that is because of the program or if maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyways, If people could let me know what programs they would suggest and possibly give some pros and cons? Also if anyone here uses Reason, if you have any tips or tricks, I would love to hear em.

No software is ideal for dubstep. Synthesis, sampling, ect. doesnt change from software to software, the mechanics of them will always be the same, you need to learn to apply them to making whats in your head, thats all.

Are we answering this same damn question again?
Dubstep is merely a different way of arranging pop music.
Bleep bleep, boop boop, you get my drift.
Make sure it`s 140bpm and has a kick and snare.
Go make your millions

It doesn't really matter which DAW you use (even though reasons not really classed as a DAW

) its how you use it!!
There's a few artists that use reason for dubstep... erm.. Stenchman and Funtcase that come to mind.
I was making dubstep on reason but I came to the conclusion that I didn't like the general sound quality, so moved back to Cubase 5.
If your relatively new to producing dubstep then reason is a good place to start but I would recommend looking in to the other DAW's out there and become familiar with VSTs and what not for future reference.
Peace
Tain

Oh, was this about the same time you came to the conclusion pigs would fly if you donated them enough money? Sorry to be dickish, but dude that senetence is shite and its WHY people start threads like this. If something was worng with your sound quality on reason, something was wrong with how you had things running/setup.
...Doesnt reason use lame codecs like everyone else?

Yea its not so much about what your sequencing on, a bit about what plug-ins you are using, but mostly about what you are doing with them that matters. Although personally i dont like Reason, Logic all the way! They essentially do the same thing but logic comes with better plug-ins

Haha, why don't you mention that to breakage? I think I remember reading that he wasn't keen on the overall sound of reason...It just doesn't have the same feel in sound quality as cubase to me. Sorry Doctor Sound!

Is there any software or hardware you just cant get your head around and what software would you recommend for a beginner ?
i cant get my head around synths, soft synths and most hardware stuff
im not the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to making music tbh, the technical stuff that i do know has taken years and years... most of it is very simple stuff too
hmmm.... maybe reason, although i dont like the overal sound of reason, its dead quick and easy to do little loops (and tunes too a imagine)
Straight from the Master's mouth!!
