I heard Focusrite's Saffire series are quite stable...PRO 14 looks nice and it has firewire for not much money

I've bought Audio Kontrol 1 and it sounds perfect but it is a bitchy product with various problems...(sometimes it distorts cuz of the latency, mine has a white noise when the drivers are unloaded..)

Budget is around 125-150 for the sound card.

I think Audio Kontrol 1 is in that range, look it up, it's a nice usb card.

For PCi there are also a couple of possibilities.

It has its downsides, but I still prefer it to my old Fast Track Pro. :)

I've got the MAUDIO Audiophile Delta 192. It's about 150-200 dollars, has MIDI, Monitor outs, Stereo 1/4" jacks in/out, all on a super convenient breakaway cable so it's easier to move your computer when you need to. All in all I'm very happy with it, the sound quality is superb...Sound on Sound reviewed it a while ago and they agreed.

I've had mine for about a year now, no issues at all.

SoundonSound reviewed Audio Kontrol 1 as the best USB audio interface in 150-200 range and I could agree with thum (if we're talkin soundquality here) but there are 2,3 main problems with lower latency on some PCs includin :

1. distortin sum applications like soundcloud or youtube (sometimes)
2. white noise before the drivers start workin

but higher latency settings fix this...

3. I found that Win7 makes 2 drivers for it - 1 for 1/2 outs and the second for 3/4...and it sets (i dont know why) 3/4 for windows and stuff and 1/2 for musicmakin programs for exmpl...I've disabled 3/4 and now everythin is at 1/2

If you're OK with these definitely go for AK1...

oh, and there could be sum probs with 64bit OS too - am 32 now...
